MY REVIEWS

  • show: Stargate SG-1

    episode: Crystal Skull

    The Bottom Line: "Great"

This episode starts with a great piece of visual effects of the pyramid. The humor in this episode is top notch with the highlight being Jack falling out of bed. My biggest complaint for this episode is some of the green screen shots were horrible especially when the rocks move over Teal'cs head. The highlight of this episode is the chemistry between Daniel and his grandfather who was played perfectly by Jan Rubeš. The mist aliens were a bit ridiculous but I wish they would have brought them back. The final scene was touching and both actors did a masterful job. Overall this was a solid stand alone episode.

  • show: Stargate SG-1

    episode: Maternal Instinct

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

This episode is important for many reasons. First off the reveal to the team that Apophis survived and that he commands the vast army of Sokar. Next is the search for the Harcesis child that continued the arc stared in "Secrets" and completed in "Absolute Power". Last and most important the introduction of Ascended beings and the arc of Daniel and Oma that is continued in "Meridian". I really liked the interaction with Daniel and the monk. The reveal of Oma is one of the most memorable moments of the third season. Overall a good episode that opened many great storylines.

  • show: Stargate SG-1

    episode: New Ground

    The Bottom Line: "Good"

I don't know what it is about this episode that I dislike the most but the more times I see it the less I like it. I did like the beginning gate activation and the fact that the gate was still half inside a cliff. My biggest complaint would have to be that the people of this planet are so stupid and couldn't see the truth if it bit them in the ass. The leader was the worst and saying that walking through solid rock an allusion was the ridiculous. But I guess I shouldn't expect much from religious fanatics. The episode did have some good humor with the "We come in peace" gags and giant worms. The Teal'c part was kind of weak and that these people had the technology to cure blindness was a little to convenient. Nyan was one bright spot of the episode and his open mindedness was a welcomed addition. The end was pretty cool with the escape but overall this is one of the worst in the third season but much better then the worst from 1 and 2 "Emancipation" and "One False Step".

    episode: Shades of Grey

    The Bottom Line: "Superb"

This is one of my favorite episodes from the third season. The humor in the beginning is great with the eyebrow line and the straw gag. Rick also did a great job with the unmoral Jack delivering one of his best performances of the series. The addition of Maybourne was great because of his great chemistry with Jack. When I first saw this episode I knew Jack was up to something but Rick's performance was so well done that I didn't figure out what it was until later on then I would like to admit. I liked the continuation of the rogue NID storyline and the closure of the Touchstone guys. I loved the final scene with Daniel revealing that they drew straws and he lost. Overall one of the best O'Neill episodes in the early seasons.

  • show: Stargate SG-1

    episode: A Hundred Days

    The Bottom Line: "Great"

I have mixed feelings about this episode. First off the visual effects are terrific especially the meteor striking the gate which is one of my favorite moments in the season. This story had a nice twist with Jack being stranded. It made the episode more interesting then a planet being hit by meteor. The highlight of this episode for me is the performance of Richard Dean Anderson who as always steals the show. My biggest complaint about this episode is the relationship part but I do think that Rick and Michele Greene had great chemistry. This episode had a bit of a pacing problem after the fast start it really slows down after the gate gets hit. Overall a decent episode that has it's moments.
