Francis Stone was a wealthy young woman who at first is happy to play the role of housewife. Until she meets Alice, leader of the Philadelphia suffragette movement. When she starts fighting for woman's right to vote, enemies begin to pile up. In 1919, she was thrown off the top of the stairs.
I tried to like this episode. I really did. Normally I enjoy the episodes that take place in the past, the farther back the better. I especially enjoyed seeing how things were so different, but this episode was just too unrealistic to bear.
I mean, all Cold Case episodes rely on people's stories and in the end the murderer or the witness to the murder's confession. Some of the other Cold Case episodes that are based this far back in the past I'd believe, but this one just takes the cake. All of the pieces to the puzzle was the woman's home to begin with, all she had to do was go through the stuff. She basically got the detectives on the job to clean up the house for her.

Rainey Karlsen finally got what she wanted: to be on the varsity cheerleading squad, to hang out with the popular kids. But not long after becoming their friend she realizes they're not true friends afterall. She's found dead in 1997 on the football field of an overdose of GHB.
I was wondering when Cold Case was going to get around to doing a high school episode (Sleepover doesn't count since that was in junior high, although they are somewhat similar). I mean, with all of the viciousness that goes on with social circles in high school, they could make like a dozen of these episodes and still be radically different from one another.
For a high school episode I thought it was pretty well done. It held most of the basics that you would expect from such an episode. The plot was good and it was well written, although quite predictable.

Clayton Hathaway was a 6 year old boy who had just learned to ride a bicyle. He had his whole life ahead of him until one day, when he's out riding his bicyle, he's found raped and murdered. The main suspect is his father and he's put away, until recently when they decided evidence was tempered with.
This was a very emotional episode. It reminded me a lot of "Revenge" from season 3. They are very similar in the sense that both dads go out to get revenge on whoever molested and murdered their son. But that's not really surprising. I'm sure that if a lot of parents who have gone through what they did had that opportunity, they'd take it.
This was definitely a tear-jerker episode, so be sure to have tissues on hand when watching. It's been awhile since I cried during an episode, but at the end, I had a hard time holding back the tears.

Marlene Bradford was a mother of two and when her husband dies of cancer, overloaded with medical bills, she becomes homeless. She tries her best to provide for her family while living in their car. She goes missing in 1999, on her daughter's tenth birthday.
And Cold Case excellence strikes again. By far a very powerful episode. It was sad to see Marlene try her best for her family and all she'd get was riducle from her oldest daughter, Natalie. I didn't like that part of the episode. When Natalie would act like a little brat to her mom, I'd get completely thrown out of how sad it was and just think about how mad it made me. I mean, I know what it's like to be that age and o through tough times, I'm not much older than that now, but her mother tried her best and that's more than most parents do.
Okay. Other than that, I absolutely loved this episode. Oh, and the casting on the older Natalie was just terrible. They looked nothing alike and it's only been 8 years, not twenty. I suppose it's a reflection of the tough times she's been through, but tough times don't make you like 20 years older. The song selection and everything else was great.

Maurice Hall was a worker in his dad's grocery store. His brother was a big time jock and the apple of their father's eye. Maurice wanted to become a dancer, much to his brother and father's dismay. He went missing in 1984 and his skeltons have just been discovered, badly beaten. Meanwhile, detectives in New Jersey think they found who kiled Jefferies wife in a hit and run.
This storyline rang very true to me. I mean the events that took place in this story happen quite often. I just don't see how his body was in a dumpster for 20 years and never be found.
This was quite a sad episode because for one the kid was so young and he was just on the verge of being able to live his dream. He finally got his father to respect him and he gets killed before he can live up to his true potential.
With the slew of episodes in this season, it only shows that the writers have not lost their magic.
