My one hangup was my frustration that Claire's dad didn't send the damn Haitian in to stop nuclear boy! WTF?! What's a good way to stop a guy who can't control his powers? Maybe a convenient power-nullification dude who just happens to be standing right outside!!! I can understand they wanted to get him to explode, but there needed to be some justification of why a ordinarily very smart man didn't think of a completely obvious solution to a problem endangering his entire family.
Anyway, other than that, this episode was extremely strong, in no small part due to a more focused story that didn't at ALL include Mohindidiot and Blondie Two-Face. There was more time spent looking at some of the more interesting characters in the show, and learning more about the motivations and history of HRG.
With this episode, the show is finally turning into more than just moody fluff. I hope it continues to find its potential.

I hope Christopher Eccleston will be around for a while, because he immediately jumped to best actor on the entire show. And while we still got more of the crappy split-personality garbage, it felt like it was smaller in volume this week than ever before. Ali Larter is a terrible actress, trying her best to fill out a pretty lame character. And Mohinder isn't much better in either respect, but it looks like he might actually begin to be relevent to the story rather than a whiny observer.
I like the evolution of Greg Grunberg's relationship with his wife, and hope they go somewhere with that. Obviously something's gotta come between it, but it will be interesting to see if they can survive what happens.
Story continues to be relatively strong, shallow character development and weak acting continue to keep the show from being really great.

I found the mythology of the room and the objects quite interesting as it unfolded, and was really REALLY hoping it was going somewhere. Unfortunately, it fell off the rails at the very end. All that buildup for that payoff?! How lame!
Also, the chemistry between Krause and Marguiles was non-existent. It was almost like they wrote the script, the network said "We need more sex," and so they threw some in. I was hoping she was at least just doing it to manipulate him, but no such luck. Both of their motivations were questionable, not just his. He's ready to "rip the world in half" to find his daughter, but he'll take a little break for some nookie on the side?! Gimme a break. I don't necessarily wish I hadn't spent the time watching it, because I enjoyed much of the miniseries, but it was almost nullified by the crappy end and lame sex.

Not being a big fan of the movie, I probably wouldn't have given this show much of a chance if my friend from high school hadn't bought me the first season and claimed it was the best show on TV.
Well, the first season was awful. I'm not sure why I didn't stop watching, the stories were painfully generic, the "humor" terribly forced, the villains extraordinarily dull, and no relatable humanity to speak of from our four heroes.
But I did continue, and amidst the dumb storylines there was the periodic inspired, creative episode that made me think there was something more than mediocrity in this show.
Seasons 5 and 6 had some stronger storylines, and I was thrilled when Daniel Jackson left for a little while.
Season 9 brought Ben Browder, whom I loved in Farscape, which did bring a bit of fresh air to the stale cast. However, this coincided with the new villains, the Ori. So, you finish off the Go'auld, and your next bad guys are more dudes who enslave people by convincing them they are gods?!? Are you kidding me? Is this really a big current day issue, is that why they are really trying to drive it home? Lots of dictators pretending to be Anubis or whatever? Fracking ridiculous.
Anyway, Ben and Claudia bring me some chuckles now and then, but I feel duped by them into being violated by this terrible show every week.

Unoriginal concept, executed in a mediocre way at best.
Like Unbreakable and the latest X-Men movies, the idea is a more realistic telling of average people discovering they have supernatural gifts. It looked pretty unimpressive from the previews, and the premiere didn't let down that assumption.
The dialogue and acting are amateur stuff, and barely worth mentioning. Clearly they wanted to focus more on being mysterious and trying to tease out a story arc than making believable characters.
After seeing the first 4 episodes, I am mildly curious about where the story is going, but you have to put up with a lot to get there. The Hiro character is a pretty pleasant exception to the character black hole that is Heroes. He needs more screen time.
