I Love Lucy
The Séance
Avg Score: 8.59    Total Ratings: 40    Total Reviews: 2
"The Seance" is another fine example of the fine acting and writing that made "I Love Lucy" such a great comedy. Vivian Vance is great in this episode as Madam Mertzola, the medium, and Lucille Ball is classic in her imitation of a spirit (of what turns out to be a cocker spaniel). Jay Novello guest stars as Mr. Meriweather, the producer of the musical in which Ricky wants to be cast. "I Love Lucy" fans should be familiar with Novello, as he also portrays Mr. Beecher and Mario in other episodes of the show. He is one of the best parts of the episode; the scene during which the seance takes place is a classic "I Love Lucy" moment.

I Love Lucy
The Publicity Agent
Avg Score: 8.24    Total Ratings: 31    Total Reviews: 2
When Lucy tries to get Ricky some publicity, there can only be humorous results! Lucy and Ethel dress up as the Maharincess of Franistan and her attendant, respectively. There are several funny moments in the episode, as well as classic quotes. Particularly funny is the final scene in the Waldorf hotel room, as Lucy and Ethel unwind from the performance at the club. Fred and Ricky turn the tables on them, pretending to be assassins who are after Franistan's royalty. Refuting the claim that she has the red and black hair of the Franistan royal family, Lucy states, "I'm not a Maharincess, I'm a henna rinses!" Another classic episode of "I Love Lucy".

I Love Lucy
The Diet
Avg Score: 8.40    Total Ratings: 51    Total Reviews: 3
I classified this episode as "Character Development" because this is the first episode in which we see Lucy's determination to "get in the show". The classic theme which surfaces again and again in the series begins in this episode. There is a great scene with Lucy trying to fit in with the other girls who are auditioning for the show, and another of Lucy trying to maintain her diet while Ethel, Fred, and Ricky eat a delicious dinner. Lucy wrestling with the Mertzes' dog Butch, who is seen only in this episode, is definitely a highlight of this classic "I Love Lucy" episode.

I Love Lucy
Drafted
Avg Score: 7.78    Total Ratings: 37    Total Reviews: 1
This episode is a classic example of a "you've got the wrong idea" story. Lucy and Ethel think that Fred and Ricky have been drafted, while Fred and Ricky think that Lucy and Ethel are having babies. The boys and girls both decide to throw parties without verifying their assumptions; Fred and Ricky throw a baby shower for the girls, while Lucy and Ethel throw a going away party for the boys.

While "Drafted" is not one of the best episodes of "I Love Lucy", it is certainly another great example of why the relationships the four characters have with each other make the show the classic that it is.

The Girls Want To Go To a Nightclub
Avg Score: 8.58    Total Ratings: 65    Total Reviews: 2
"The Girls Want to Go to a Nightclub" is the first episode of "I Love Lucy" to air on television, though it was not the first to be filmed. This was thought to be a better debut episode, and it is certainly a fitting one. This episode introduces a theme that will show up again and again in future episodes of the show: Lucy and Ethel scheme together and try to outsmart their husbands. The final minutes of the episode, as Lucy and Ethel show up as nightmare "dates" for their husbands, are classic, and four stars show why they were so beloved by Americans in the 50's and today as well.
