What I miss about being a little kid (in the 90's)

Copied off of Ohiochic's profile:

re Sidekicks & iPods.

Before MIKE JONES

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX.

Before the 5 hours(5min) of homework you put off every night.

WHEN LIGHT UP SNEAKERS WERE COOOOL.

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

When we recorded stuff on VCRs & paid $3.50 for a movie.

When we called the radio station to request songs to hear off our walkmans.

When 2Pac and Biggie where alive.

When the Chicago Bulls were the best team ever.

Way back..........

Tag. <33333

Hide-n-Go Seek at dusk.

Red Light, Green Light.

Heads Up 7 Up. (haha I still play that in homeroom when me and my whoel class would get our work done early)

Playing kickball & dodgeball until your porch light came on.

Hopscotch.

Slip-n-Slides.

Tree Houses.

Hula Hoops.

Skip-its.

Reading R.L. Stine's Goose Bumps.

The annoying Nano Pets & Furbies. (R.I.P Nano Pets. I sware I didn't put you in the freezer)

Running through the sprinklers.

Crying when Mufasa died in the Lion King.

Happy Meals where you chose a Barbie or a Hot Wheels car.

Getting the privelage to sit in the front seat of the car.

When Christmas was the most exciting time of year. (haha it still is that won't change just cause the 90s are over)

When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle.

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday. (still do)

When Toys 'R' Us ov
eruled the mall.

Go back to the time when.....

Argument's were only started when it came to who was gonna be the redranger.

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'. (still is to me )

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'.

It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends. (still isn't)

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enough to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

When Lisa Frank was the raddest thing ever. <3333

When a candy bar at the grocery store was the highlight of your day. (haha still is)

When coupons collected all year could get you a prize in your class auction.

When the only thing you cried over was your mom being late to pick you up.

When stress was addition and subtraction.

When friendships were as complicated as who's house to sleep over.

When shaving cream was just meant for play.

When a first kiss only lead to cooties.

When Valentines Day meant cards for all.

When birthdays were a class event.

When a friend moving away was the saddest day of your life
.

When the summer lasted forever.

When time didn't matter.

These were the days we hadn't realized escaped us until it's all brought back.

Repost if these things mean something to you, and you get the personal images of when you were a kid

Just Saw Hairspray Again!!!

*this may be a little late...I saw it on June 3, but still)  I had front row center seats!!!! It was so toadily WICKED!!! I was mouthing all of the words to the songs...and since I unintentionally memorized the script too...I was mouthing some of those words too! I swear in the Welcome to the 60's number, the person who played Tammy was staring at me...in shock...and at the last number I was doing the dance in my seat!!! It was soooo AWESOME OPOSSUM!!! but the Tracy forgot her "It feels hip" line...it was too bad...and the Amber wasn't good at all...oh, well.

My Recent Reviews

10.0 Perfect
Jenn Gambatese
Avg Score: 10.00    Total Ratings: 3    Total Reviews: 1
Wow is all I can say. This gal is absolutely fantastic. I saw her as Natalie/Ed in 'All Shook Up' and couldn't get enough of her. I was really bummed when Tarzan closed a few weeks before I got back to NYC...I would have loved to see her in another musical. Also, I am a huge Hairspray fan, and since she played Brenda, who's nine month leave from the Corny Collins show gives Tracy her position, is just icing on the cake. When she sings 'Ska Doodle Doo Doo Wah' at the end of (It's) Hairspray, it is amazing. She can have so much power and sing so high. It's astonishing. Also, Brenda is my second favorite character in Hairspray all because of the way that Jenn played her. With the gagging, and throwing up, and everything. It made me want to watch her throughout the whole play...and I did just that. I seriously hope I can see her in another musical soon. Jennifer Gambatese is one of the all time greatest actresses! One of my favorite too (next to Laura Bell Bundy and Kerry Butler). Jenn is magnificantly wonderful!!!

What's New Scooby-Doo?
Avg Score: 8.61    Total Ratings: 375    Total Reviews: 42
I liked the old 'Scooby Doo: Where Are You?" better. I liked how it was like...in the late 60's and early 70's. And I liked the physcadelic (sp?) songs they would play in the background better than the "modernized" songs they would play in the background of 'What's New' Also, the characters seemed more lovable in the 'Where are you' and the show seemed to try less hard to make people laugh. Which I really liked. Although 'What's New' is an alright version of Scooby Doo. Nobody can mess with the classics. That's why they are classics because they should be here to stay forever and ever.

9.5 Superb
Colleen Fitzpatrick
Avg Score: 9.50    Total Ratings: 1    Total Reviews: 1
Colleen was an excellent Amber in the 1988 movie, Hairspray directed by John Waters. She really set the standard for Brittany Snow in the new Hairspray remake movie. Anyway, since us Hairspray viewers did not get to hear Colleen sing in the Hairspray movie, we didn't know that she is a superb singer!!! Since she was the lead singer of the alternative rock band, Eve's Plum, and the lead singer in the 90's pop band, Vitamin C, who's smash hhit was Smile, we all know that she can REALLY SING!!! I think that she should get more opportunities to be in movies, because she is so excellent! She brought Amber to a new level of mean, that was not captured in the spirit of the broadway play, and probably not in the movie. Also, she had her kissee and spastic side too.

Where shall I start...hmmm. I know, now, this plot has been used over and over and over and over again. Now, an unpopular person falls in love with popular person they get together...how original...anyhow, and the movie was utterly perdictable...I mean, I wonder if they will get the parts??? Hmmm....and how ironic is it that Gabriella just so happens to move to NM and then got to the same school!!! UGGG!!!! Anyhow, the songs were murdered by disney channel...they played them too much. And the singers and actors stunk. The only good person was Lucus Graabel. Ashley can't sing that well...or really act. Vanessa can't dance or act, but she can kind of sing. and Zac Efron can do nothing...but in conclusion, maybe if they got some better people who really could act, sing, and dance, and weren't used in EVERYTHING in Disney Channel, the movie would be give a 5. But only a 5...nothing more, because the script was not superb...

Aaaaiiieeee!!! I can't stand this man. He shows absolutely no emotion while on camera...and cannot sing...AHHHHH!!! His voice was DUBBED on HSM, Andrew Seeley really sang the songs, and Zac is taking all the credit for himself! How rude!!! I would say that I'd like to see him in another musical and laugh when he bombed it again...but I think that I cursed myself, because I just found out that he will be playing Link Larkin in the 2007 Hairspray remake! :-( I MaY be Hairspray's #1 fan (probably not) but he is just not Link matieral...and how come he keeps getting parts in musicals if his voice has to be dubbed? I don't find that practical! How is this possible??? I don't know...But my friend and I were thinking of schemes of ways to torture him and get another actor to play Link (coughMattewMorrisoncough) Well, I don't think he can do anything which is why I made up a song about that to the tune of mama I'm a big girl now from Hairspray. (sing, dance, act! I can't!!!)

About Me

melonhead37
Hello there, I'm Mel... I LOVE broadway shows espicially Hairspray and Legally Blonde. And my favorite actresses are: Laura Bell Bundy, Kerry Butler, and Jenn Gambatese. (all from Hairspray...) I love becoming editors for people...so...that's all I have to say about that. (like Forrest Gump) Okay. I love people who aren't afraid to be who they are, and on TV, well, there are a lot of shows that encourage that, so that's a good thing.
