TV.Com and Movietome

Been widening my TV-Com travels. I've been visiting the page for The Six Million Dollar Man... which was my favorite show when I was a kid. Hey, every young boy needs a hero.. this was mine. There doesn't seem to be anybody going there. I put up a couple new posts, but my expectations are low. Lifesigns are weak on older shows during peak months on this site, but during summer break, I understand it gets worse. But if anybody is reading this, and is a fan of that show.. give me a holla on the forum. I'd love to have someone to chat with about it!

Speaking of which, I finally decided to at least take a look at the latest Bionic Woman.. the one that was cancelled recently. I went to Hulu.com and watched the pilot. Yuck! Now I remember why I wasn't even interested in checking it out.. and I understand why it was cancelled after 8 episodes. I left my review on the main page.. it's also on my profile.

I read an interview with Ron Moore, longtime staff writer of Star Trek: Next Gen, DS9, and Voyager, not to mention , of course, creator of my current fave, Battlestar Galactica (oh, will the plugging never end?). Anyway, he was commenting on the current Star trek movie... now in post production.. to be released early 2009. He said some things that i kind of found disturbing, and a little dissapointing. They also kind of made me loose a little respect for the guy, which I didn't think was possible. I started a forum post and poll on the Star Trek:TOS page on this. It kinda unintentionally turned into a long winded editorial, and halfway through, I changed my mind, and was gonna do it as a blog on my page. But my Firefox won't let me cut and paste, and I didn't feel like loosing it or retyping, so I just continued and left it. If anybody's curious, check it out.

Still watching X-Files with Sapphire. I'm only at the beginning of the 7th season (Hungry), but I'm still going to try to finish the series before the movie release.

I just started watching Lost. Never seen it before. OMG, the first 2 episodes were amazing!

Also, got from Netflix the first two disks of Alias, and Heroes first seasons. Nver seen them before either. Will burn for later consumption.

What is going on with Movietome? If you'll notice, the link is no longer listed on top of the screen with the other CNET services. Metacritic is there instead. The site is still active, though..which is the only thing even the Mods seem to know at this point. If you go to the help forum, though..and click on either FAQ, or tech support, and then go to the top of your screen..the link will be there.

I know the site has been on the brink for a while, but you would thing CNET would have the decency , not to mention respect for it's users..to let us no what is going on with the site. There are some like myself, who have posted reviews there, who would like to know if we should save them in case the site get's taken down. I guess that's too much to expect. Shame on you CNET.

That being said, I would really like to thank angelandspike for getting back to me so quickly with any info she had on this and other issues. You should be well paid for your efforts and consideration.

Well, that's it for now. Take care everybody, and have a wonderful weekend.

Peace,

Ted

Life In Motion (Or lack Thereof)

Yo, yo, wassup, my peeps! Just wanted to report in, ya feel me? I took my previous blog down. You know.. the rant about the unfriendly, unsociable, stuck up, "too good for lil ol me" snobs? I figured the people whom I was addressing would never read it, so I deleted it, and PMed the people in question, to tell them personally what unfriendly, unsociable, stuck up, "too good for lil ol me" snobs they really were. And I feel a whooole lot better. Even if I get kicked off or banned..hey..what is life without a little danger, huh? I laugh in the face of danger. Ha-Ha-ha! (See?)

Anyway, sorry that I haven't been comunicating, especially with my new X-Files friends (Wasssuuuup!). Had a few things going on. Still no job yet, but...my wife Patti just greeted the arrival of her sixth grandchild. He is a healthy beautiful little boy named Malcolm Landon Mazar. His Mother , my step-daughter, Jessica arrived saftely back home a year ago, after four years in Iraq. So we are doubly blessed.

Patti had an accident with the car last week. Coming home from work about a mile from our house on a rainy night during rush hour, the car slid out of control, missing about five oncoming cars (I don't know how she wasn't hit), and hit the curb hard. She wasn't hurt, and it happened on a side street instead of the 30 miles of high-speed freeway she travels each trip, so I thank God for that! Damage was minimal, but even minimal damage can be expensive. Impact with the curb totaled the drivers side tire and rim, and threw the allignment out of wack. Just to make the car drivable again was 450 dollars...for that! Dosen't sound like much, but when you only have a hundred in the bank, it's a lot. Can anybody out there say.."overdraft"? I knew you could.

On the television front, we can no longer afford to have the Sci-Fi channel on our lineup, so I can no longer see the one current program I love, Battlestar Galactica live as it airs. Arrrrrgggghhh! I've missed the last three episodes, and I'll have to watch them via an internet stream. Speaking of which, the ruling just came down (it's been a rumour for months) that the episode this Friday will be the last new episode until at least January 2009! OMG! I was hoping for Fall.. but 2009?! How sick is that?!! Fans are betting that this weeks episode before the break will contain the Big Reveal... who of our beloved characters is the Final Cylon? I don't expect them to find Earth until after the break, but it means the rest of the journey will damed sure be plenty interesting. The show has been a very rewarding viewing experience. Having been not too crazy about a re-imaganing of one of my favorite childhood shows at the beginning, it didn't take long for the show to prove me wrong. Many twists, turns, dramas, and mysteries..handled in an intelligent, thought provoking , and realistic manner...which is rare for any show these days..but realistic, for a sci-fi show? Yep. It's been so much fun watching there guys change and grow...and that includes the bad guys. The lines between human and Cylon have inched closer and closer together, especially this season..that the terms good and bad aren't really applicable anymore. But after this reveal..it's going to be a long wait until January.

Usually, I don't complain too much about not being able to afford going out to the movies. Ticket prices, and concessions are ridiculous anyway, and the movie has to be a real big screen only event to make me pay that kind of money. But so far...I'm not going to get to see Iron Man or Indiana Jones...which sucks, big time. Especially Indy. I have been waiting for sooo long for Ford to put on that Fedora again. For a while, I didn't think they'd have a script ready until he was in an actors retirement home! But now it's here, and I can't see it! Whaaaaaaah!

My hope is that my financial straits will be better by the time my next big release comes out...X-Files II: I Want To Believe. Due in July, this is another one I doubted would make it. This beloved show was almost DOA in it's last year, back in 2002, as far as most fans were concerned. The upcoming release has re-stirred the fandom pot, and I and my wife are re-watching the series to get caught up. She's watching most of them for the first time, and having a ball doing it! I can't wait!

Some of these forums on here are sooo dead, particularly the one for Star Trek, the original series. I'm trying to stir up some life on there through some strategy of my own. If you're a fan of Star trek, and on my list, check out my new thread there. I really want to see how many people actually visit the forum, and then try and exchange ideas on how we can bring it back to life.

That's all for now. Life beckons, so I'll talk at ya all later. Holla at a brutha!

Peace,

Ted

The Best Show you're not watching

Sorry guys, I know it's relentless behavior. I know it's shameless plugging. But i have to do it. I've been telling people about this for awhile, and everybody who has given it a chance has gotten hooked, without fail. But still, too many people are not watching this show And it's the best show on TV right now, so, forgive the Paul Revere complex, but i would not be the kind generous and sweethearted person I am (are you ill yet?), unless I provided this service. Last night, I watched the latest episode of Battlestar Galactica (2003). You have to watch this show! It is getting too good! It's not about the ships, effects, or space battles, it's really about humanity, it's struggle for survival against the constant threat of extinction...it's a drama about people that just happens to take place in space and the mystery of life, death, religion, goverment, etc. It starts off taking it's time in the miniseries, introducing you to the characters, letting you get to know them and setting up the enviroment. It has characters you can like and care about , and the show has the best story archs since the X-files Mythology, filled with twists, turns, dramas and puzzles. If you start, a little stratagy here. First, program your Tivo or DVR to record what's on now for later consumption. Then, get/rent the mini-series first, then go through the seasons. If you buy the season one boxset, it has the mini-series as the first disk. There is are some webisodes between the second and third seasons that are on the Season three set, and a movie called Razor to be watched between the third and fourth season. The show is on it's fourth and final Season, and every twist and turn in the prior three seasons are paying off in spades. It's making me go back and watch the earlier shows for clues, and plot elements that I didn't notice before. Trust me, you'll be hooked, and doing marathons before you know it, and should catch up before they show the last half of the final season, and you'll be able to watch the end live with the rest of us. Trust me, oh please trust me, you will not be sorry. A little obsessed, and very entertained..but not sorry. Any questions, see my review on the show's page, or ask me. i love talking about this show...but I won't give away secrets. It's much more fun finding things out as you watch. Have a great weekend.

Musings Of A Cigarette Smoking Man

It's been a while since my last/first blog. A lot's been going on. I've been out of work since October, and have been searching franticly. I now know what it feels like to be a minority, I think. I'm in South Florida, a white male over 40 years old, with a prior work history that covers just about everything. You'd think that makes it easier, right? Wrong. Turns out, I'm overqualified for just about everything i apply for around here. My patient and loving wife is picking up the slack, but she's stressed to the max. And this financial recession coming up does not make things look brighter.

Before all this happened, I was trying to quit smoking. I had been smoking since the age of 13, stopped when I met my wife (she can't stand it), then started again when my crazy landlord started attacking me, just before I got laid off. Don't get me wrong, we're not poor, or in danger of being homeless. But her paycheck covers the bills and groceries, and that's it. We were, and still are planning a move to Colorado and the situation throws in a big monkey wrench. We both hate Florida. It's insane here, and niether one of us belong. We're both from New Jersey, and oh, I miss the four seasons. Anyway, she wants me to stop smoking, and so do I. But stress makes it hard. Oh, well..it'll get better. Something's gotta happen soon.

REVIEW BLOG

Anyway... I use my reviews as a way to keep my sanity. You may have noticed that my reviews are kind of long, and overly descriptive. I'm ironing out the kinks, trying to find my way and whittle down the process. I've been getting a few tips from some members (thank you) who actually like all the info. I think I can find a way to tighten it without loosing the basic structure. PLEASE, LET ME KNOW YOUR OPINIONS. I kind of like writing, although i haven't done it in a while..and I reeealllly need to brush up on my typing/spelling/punctuation skills.

I've only recently started getting serious with the reviews I've been putting in. Compared to a lot of members here, I've found I really don't have a lot in my favorite shows. That's because I'm very picky about shows that I like . I HATE watching commercials, so a lot of shows I start watching are retro, on DVD and such. There are some shows that I loved, but due to personal tragedies, I lost interest in during their runs, and never finished watching ( Star Trek DS9 and Voyager, ER, etc). Other's I'd heard are great, but I've never seen...yet...(Alias, Heroes, Lost, etc). Currently, my wife and I are going through DS9, Voyager, ER, Gillmore Girls, Little House On The Prarie, West Wing, The X-Files, 24, and Battlestar Galactica (2003). In 1997, I lost my Mom, Grandmother, and childhood home, so I was just a little bit depressed for a long wehile , and lost touch with all my faves. I've seen most of DS9 and Voyager, but I'm going through it anew with my wife, who never really liked Trek until I got her into it, before I watch what i missed. Likewise with ER. Enterprise, I missed entirely, but i'll get to it. BSG, we've seen most of through it's run, and we're absolutely addicted. West Wing, we have just started, and we're about halfway through the first season...what a great show! Little House is okay. but I'm getting into it. .It's mainly my wife's childhood fave, I was more Six Million Dollar Man at that time. She has REALLY gotten me into Gilmore Girls (damn her!) It's a great show, and once you start watching it from the beginning, it completely assimilates you, and resistance is futile. It doesn't hurt that Alexis and Lauren are very easy on the eyes, and I love the quirkiness of the town members.

I am not, and never have been a sit-com person. I don't know why, I'm very anti-fomulaic, and sit-coms seem to me to be the most formulaic genre. I only have two on my list, M*A*S*H (which is not really a sit-com) and Happy Days (an exceptional show, very much a part of my childhoot, and very dear to my heart). I've liked more, but not enough to post reviews about. I may add some more to my list, we'll see. My shows tend to lean toward the Sci-fi side, but they have to lean towards the human element and characterization rather than just F/X and tech. I've heard a lot about Firefly, and i'm going to check it out, whenever I get a chance. More on all this another time.

RECOMENDATION OF THE MONTH

I am going to start making viewing reccomendations to people. These will invariably be retro, for reasons stated above, but well worth your time. Because so much is going on with the story, and because there's so much current chat about it now, I have to go with the following as my first pick....

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA (2003);

As stated in so many reviews and press releases, articles, etc..this is a show which even non Sci-Fi viewers can get into. The stories are more about the characters rather then planets, aliens, tech, etc. Though it does have plenty of great special effects, there are no aliens from other worlds, save for the main villians of the show, the Cylons. So many people are getting into this show through word of mouth. I would urge all of you to check it out, if you haven't already. Please read my main review of the show for more info, located on the shows summary page. I hear of many people reading summaries and re-caps so that they can tune into the current season and fully understand what's going on. This would indeed do something for the current ratings, which I'd love to see happen, but you would be doing yourself a favor if you instead watch the mini-series first, then go through the seasons one by one in order. So much of the appeal lies with the characters, and if you just read recaps, you really won't get to know them, and won't care as musch about what happens during the current story. Right now, they are running the fourth and final season, and waaayy yo much has been established..too many layers, questions, story, etc. to grasp through just re-caps. It is the best show currently on television and you MUST see it. It's WELL worth your time, and you will NOT be dissapointed as long as you realize that it's a drama set in a sci-fi backround, not your typical Sci-Fi show. You can rent them all through Net-flix.

GETTING TO KNOW YOU

I want to thank people who have tracked and/or corresponded to me, and I apologise if I haven't gotten bact to you yet, but I will. As for other members, I have a rant about this. I realize I haven't been here long, but I'm trying to make some new friends/contacts based on people in forums , reviewers etc. There seems to be a lot of people who would just rather not be contacted, or maybe their just stuck up, or anti-social. I start out by tracking a user, then send them a PM, just to say hi, and get nothing back. What, you're to good to say even a hello? Likewise, I've also noticed some people ignoring me in the forums if they don't know me. This is a social-networking site right? I'm not looking to pick out china patterns or anything but , jeez..it's starting to make me think this site is populated by a lot of snobs. Hopefully, this will improve, as I've taken pains to make sure my criminal reccord and arrest warrants are kept carefully gaurded secrets...except to those special few I choose to share it with. Of course, if my secrets are discovered, I'll have to kill you...no offense (Insert dark, forboding music and maniacal laughter here). Seriously...Me good guy. Honest. Sort of.

As you can see (or not, depending), I'm also on Movie Tome and Mp3. I'm a little ticked at the Mp3 site, because they seem to have so many problems/bugs, whatever...and it seems so user unfriendly (anybody else have this problem?) that it's just not worth my time nowadays to deal with, which sucks, cause I'm a music freak, and I'd really like to go nuts in there the most, but i cant deal. I'm also doing reviews on movies. My favorites list on their is a lot more substantial. I've written a few reviews, and I'm gonna do a lot more. By the way...anybody know what the point cap per day is for your contributions ? I've sent an e-mail to support asking the question, but tech and other support seems to be shorthanded around theses sites.

Well, it's back to the job hunt for me. (Joy. Happiness. Rapture. Yay.) Thank you all, you've been a wonderful audience. Have a great weekend. PEACE. ....Ted

PS: RANT LOG, SUPPLEMENTAL; This not being able to use certain words in blogs or forums is really ticking me off! There, I said it. Rant over.

Battlestar Galactica (2003)
Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 2
Avg Score: 9.56    Total Ratings: 704    Total Reviews: 16
This season finale begins where we left off. Starbuck has jumped in the capture Raider to Kobol, on the orders of Roslin, leaving Adama, Tigh and lee speechless, Crashdown's Raptor crew stranded on Kobol with a Cylon army on the planet, and a Baseship in orbit, Boomer in sickbay with a self inflicted gunshot wound to the face, and Helo with a Sharon model Cylon in his custody, who he has fallen in love with, and unbeknownst to him, pregnant with his child. The cast is in top form as all these events play themselves out to a enormous cresendo. As the Raptor crew escapes their burning ship, Six, despite baltar's urging, is indeed with him. There is a very special reason for this. It is quickly apparent to cheif tyrol, that Crashdown is ill suited to his task. Tyrol, to his credit, tries his best to help the LT save face, by giving him private advice, but Crashdown takes offence to this, and instead sees Tyrol's advice as a challenge to his authority. Against the Cheif's reccomendations, the LT orders the group away from the crash site without double checking their needed gear. Socinus is gravely injured from the crash, and Karma, the pilot is dead. Baltar passes out. Aaron Douglas really shines in this storyline as Tyrol, and you get a better feel for who Galen is then ever before. On Caprica, Sharon has guided Helo to the museum where the Arrow of Apollo is. Helo doesn't care, he threatens to kill her if she diesn't help him escape. She tells him to shove it up his ass. He backs down. By now it's pretty obvious this model genuinely cares for Helo, and has his best interests at heart. grace park is far from the best actress in the world, but she does a convincing job at making the two Sharons different enough from each other. Adama and Tigh are still reeling from Starbuck's actions, and Adama has a pretty good idea who's responsible. Roslin, via a phone call with the fleet media present, freely admits what she did, and claims she is leading the fleet. Adama orders her to step down. When she refuses, he orders her Presidency terminated. Again, she refuses, and tells him that the press is listening. This entire scene is very tense, building as Roslin keeps upping the ante. Adama hangs up and tells Apollo and Saul to start plans to send marines to Colonial One to bring in Roslin. He also asks Boomer to pilot a Raptor equipped with a Cylon transponder and armed with a nuke, go to the Basestar in Kobol's orbit, launch the nuke, and destroy it. Boomer agrees. Meanwhile Kara lands on Caprica by the museum. Sharon tells Helo the news about his little dividend. As the Marines arrive, Roslin orders her staff to go below, but they elect to stay and protect her. Mary MacDonnell keeps getting better and better with this character. The marines begin cutting through the hull of the ship to get inside. On Caprica, Starbuck finds the Arrow, but gets ambushed by a Six, who procedes to kick the s#!% out of her. What a fight! And you can see that the actressess are doing there own stunts. Katie Sachkoff got injured ( some nice bruises) when Trisha got a little too "method" on her. I'll say again, what a fight! As it seems Kara is down for the count, Six picks up the arrow, only to have Starbuck charge her from behind, knocking her off a precipice, effectively killing the Cylon, and knocking herself out. Just as that happens, Helo and Sharon walk in, and see Starbuck. Boomer and Racetrack reach the Basestar, but the nuke is jammed, and won't fire. Boomer orders them into the Basestar to set off the nuke manually, then fly out. She leaves Racetrack in the Raptor, places the nuke, but then wanders off, to Racetrack's amazement. In the bowels of the Baseship, she is suddenly surrounded by several dozen smiling copies of herself. The chilling and terrible truth is now right in front of her. She is indeed a Cylon. They tell her not to worry. She can't hide from her destiny. It will catch up to her no matter what she does. They will see her soon. They love her, and they always will. Hooookayyy! Running, at this point would be a really cool thing. She runs back, set's the nuke, enters the Raptor, and tells Racetrack to haul booty. The Baseship explodes behind them. The scene with Boomer and the Sharons is played to creepy perfection. The marines, led by Tigh and Lee enter the President's office. Guns all around on both sides! A standoff. Both sides refusing to back down. Suddenly, in an overwhelming revelation, Lee sees bloodshed happening in a few seconds, and he tells Tigh they are wrong, and should back down. When Tigh refuses, Lee pulls his gun and points it at Saul's head. What a scene! Roslin sees how out of control this is, and orders everybody to lower their weapons, effectively surrendering. Both Roslin, and Lee are arrested for mutiny. On Caprica, Starbuck comes to, and is overjoyed to see Helo alive. But then she sees Sharon..and pulls her gun. Sharon runs, and Helo deflects Kara's shot. "She's a Cylon!", she screams at Helo. Helo tells her that sharon is pregnant with his child. At this, Starbuck snaps, collapsing to the ground, screaming. On Kobol, head Six leads Gaius to the ruins of an opera house, which becomes a vision of the full opera house. Six walks him to the stage, where a glowing cradle sits, holding a baby girl. Six introduces it as "our child". baltar can only stare in amazement. Six smiles lovingly. "Isn't she beautiful, Gauius?". Boomer jumps back to Galactica reporting, "Mission accomplished" . Meanwhile, Adama personally accompanies the guards to oversee Roslin put in a cell. He stares at her furiously, then leaves. Lee is standing on the bridge in handcuffs when his father walks in. He stops, and gives Lee the same look, saying nothing before moving on. Boomer and Racetrack walk in. Adama approaches them, telling them how proud they should be, and congratulates them. He holds out his hand. Ractrack takes it, thanking him. Boomer does the same, then brings up her gun with the other hand, and fires, point blank...twice , directly into Adama's chest. As Adama's form flies back onto the console, Sharon wathces as if in a trance, comepletely unemotional. The bridge erupts into a panic. Tigh orders Boomer, still emotionless, restrained. Lee, screaming rushes to his father holding his hand, and desperately trying to stop the bleeding, shouting for a doctor. Dee does the same, praying over Adama. Boomer seems to wake up, as she stares, in speechless shock at the scene. Adama's blood rushes out of his wounds, spilling onto the console. Fade to black. Okay, nobody...and i mean nobody saw that coming. It was listed as one of the most unexpected moments in Television by TV Land. When Boomer raises the gun.. the bridge crew, as well as the audience, are completely frozen. there's only one thing you can say.. but you can't really say it here..big brother, you know. All in all, a stunning and shocking end to an impressive first season. What happens now, and how long do we have to wait? Well, for you it's easy. just pick up the Season Two boxsets. WE, however... had to wait 3 months.. which seems really easy compared to the wait we have for the rest of the fourth season. But back in 2005, it was a looong three months!

Kobol's Last Gleaming, Part 1
Avg Score: 9.19    Total Ratings: 620    Total Reviews: 7
This will be a unique review for me. Let me explain something first. I have this thing about my BSG episodes. I compile them on VHS, not really having the money to buy the DVD sets, yet. When I compile them, I re-integrate the relevent deleted scenes. It really shows how good this show is, that they come up with such great stuff, such a wealth of great material for the characters, that some of the moments, no matter how great they are, have to be cut for time. For this one, there was more cut then usual. Had all those great scenes cut from this episode alone been left in... the show clearly would have run for 90 minutes. I want to list the deleted material in it's proper context, so I'll be going in more scene by scene detail then normal. As a result, this will be an abnormally long review. There is so much to say about this episode. It is the morning after Colonial Day. Lee and his Father are working out some frustrations in the boxing ring. In the first cut scene.. Boomer, on Galactica, is practicing drawing and aiming her gun. She does this several times, aiming toward the door, where Boxey appears..she aims directly at him and fires . Of course.. no ammo, (Damn, Lol) but Boxey is scared, and runs. Boomer apologises, but he's gone. (It's probably a good idea they cut this, because it anticipates the end of the story, and her actions thereof). She has been driven to the brink of suicide with her Cylon issues. She puts her gun to her mouth several times, but cannot do it. Kara and Baltar are in bed, frakking their brains out. At the moment of truth, she calls out Lee's name. Ooooh! I'll say it again. Poor Baltar. He is devistated. Never has anything like that happened to his ego before. On Caprica, Helo shoots Sharon.. but does not kill her. He wants her to lead him to an escape, or he will. Before Roslin's scans.. there are almost five minutes of scenes deleted here. It is Saul and Ellen's Wedding anniversary, and Saul completely forgets, which leads Ellen to believe that he would be happier if she never came back. Meanwhile, a banged up Apollo meets with Starbuck for their morning workout, so she can be cleared to fly in the jump test (her knee). He busts her chops, wanting to know who she slept with, and gave her a bad night. This scene makes what happens later between them all the more meaningful. Running, they pass Adama and Gaita in the hallway, who in turn, run into Tigh and his irriated wife. Ellen wants to know why saul has to stand watch on the bridge every night, and is not happy when she finds Saul volunteered . Finally, Kara calls a halt to the running session, and lee asks her again what's up with her. She won't answer exept that it was a rough night. Back to business as we hear the doc telling Roslin she has six months to go, tops. Elosha now truly believes Roslin is the dying leader, meant to lead the people to earth. That night, at the card game.. Baltar is plastered, and taunts lee about Kara, though Lee has no idea what he's talking about, until Kara walks in, and baltar has some bitter words for her. Lee puts two and two together. The next morning, a hungover and distressed Gaius is being taunted by head Six about Kara relentlessly while Roslin tries to brief him about his new resposibilities. baltar tries to pay attention to both, but he ends up loosing it, and freaks out. Six, when they're alone again, tells Baltar that something's going to go down on Galactica, but won't specify. Boomer and Crashdown again play the discoverers of the fleet, and find a habitable planet. In another cut scene, Billy and Laura discuss whether this is Earth or not, Billy's dog, and Laura's Kamala treatments, and letting go of the past. Lee confronts Kara about baltar, and the two exchange blows. Roslin, Elosha, and Billy determine Kobol's identity, and Roslin realises the chilling truth about her visions, and her destiny. Baltar walks in on Boomer in her barracks while she is trying another suicide attempt. This is a rare deep and sensitive side to baltar as he councils her. Head Six explains how weak the Sharon model is, but that she will carry out her mission, and can't be stopped. After Baltar leaves, Boomer shoots herself in the face. Elosha and Laura breif Adama, Lee, Saul and Baltar about Kobol and the scriptures, and Adama orders a survey team to the suface. At Six's urging, Baltar volunteers to go. In a whole row of more cuts, 1. Tigh asks Elosha why they abandoned Kobol in the first place. Elosha tells Saul about the one jealous God demanding to be lifted above the others, while Baltar sees kara where there's an "about last night" moment. Kara says she was drunk, and Gaius admits the same. He confesses his embarressment to Kara about being mistaken for Lee, which Kara denies ever happened. 2. Tyrol arranges Socinus's release from his cell to go on the mission. He rides Socinus for lying for him ( Litmus) tells him not to do it again. 3. Baltar, while packing for the mission, tells Six to stay away from him for this mission, that they need time apart. He says they'll talk when he comes back. " Oh, we'll definately have a lot to talk about.", she tells him, refusing to say goodbye when he leaves. 4. Lee and Crashdown visit the wounded Boomer in sickbay. Lee rides her for her failing to check for a round in her gun chamber while cleaning it. He tells her they need her, that she's one of their best. As they leave, Tyrol walks in to see her, then it's as aired . Laura tries to get Adama to let her use the captured Cylon Raider to jump back to Caprica, and find the legendary Arrow of Apollo.. which, when they find the Tomb of Athena on Kobol, will point the way to earth. Adama reminds her that there is no Earth. "It would seem we were wrong", she retorts. Adama is adamant not to use the Raider as anything other then a military asset. The Raptors jump to Kobol, and right into a waiting Cylon ambush. One Raptor is immediately destroyed, and Tyrol and Crashdown's is damaged, forcing a crash landing. They order the remaining ship to jump back to Galactica. Once Adama finds out what happened, he orders the Raider used to take out the Baseship in Kobol's orbit. This scene is extended slightly when Laura learns that the raider will be destroyed on this mission, and Lee is shocked to hear that this was Kara's idea. Roslin tells Apollo she wants to talk to him when he has more info. Apollo is furious that Starbuck brought this mission op idea to Tigh's, and not his attention. Starbuck apologises, and Lee walks away, saying nothing. In more great cut scenes, Billy angerly argues with Laura about her plan to go against Adama's wishes. Lee arrives, and Laura asks him to help her with her plan. He angerly, but respectfully refuses, and gives her a speech about loyalty. Not only does this scene add more depth to Roslin's difficult decision, but to Billy's and Lee's characters as well. It is only after all this, that Roslin approaches Kara, and the rest is as aired. Laura confides in Kara the fact that she is dying, and of her destiny to find Earth. Starbuck retorts that Adama knows where earth is, upon which Roslin reveals to her, that Adama was lying about Earth to give people hope, and that this is the only way. Kara will not believe it, and Laura tells her to ask him. She does, and realises that Roslin was right. During the auto pilot test for the Raider, angered and hurt, she talks to Adama over wireless, all but letting him know what she is going to do. She then jumps away to Caprica. The deleted scenes add so much to the story and characters, and it's obvious that most were meant to be included. Probably a studio decision. The story itself is just the beginning, and has far reaching implications. Indeed, finding Kobol, and Roslin at once accepting, finally and fully, her destiny as the "Dying Leader", will pave the way for the ultimate direction of the rest of the series to follow. it would bring the show to a whole new level, throw everything into a blender, and splash it all over the room. All of the main cast shine in this one, and all have plenty to do. This is only part one. The best, and the worst...are yet to come.

Colonial Day
Avg Score: 8.72    Total Ratings: 597    Total Reviews: 8
This episode has several interesting developments. The Colonials have finally gotten around to building back up an interim Quorum of The Twelve. Tom Zarek is back, out of prison, and elected one of them. And surprise, so has Baltar! On Colonial Day, anniversary of the founding of the Twelve Colonies, the first official meeting of the Quorum is underway... under intense scrutiny. Lee is intent on catching Zarek doing some piece of dirty work or another. There is a great street fight type of brawl between Lee, Kara and a few thugs, who may..or may not work for Zarek. Zarek, ever the strategist , brings up a very valid point, which is that a Vice President needs to be elected in case something should happen to Laura, and is immediately nominated. Ummm.. yeah , not good. Laura has her own choice, but when she sees Baltar giving a very charismatic interview, she decides to oust her friend in favor of Gaius, in spite of what she thinks of both personally. Ellen spends her time flirting with Zarek in her own special way. Zarek asks her as a special favor, to check on a friend of his in detention...Vallence, one of the thugs Lee aprehended and interrogated. Shortly thereafter, that man is killed in his cell, in spite of guards being there. Zarek is obviously suspected. Baltar is elected by a narrow margin, and Tom tells Laura that he didn't kill Vallance. Meanwhile, on Caprica.. Sharon and helo are about to steal a ship. helo is obsessed with the model Six he saw, and suspects the truth...that there are human model Cylons. The pair split up to make their move, but shortly before they do...Helo sees another Sharon..and two plus two equals four. His Sharon immediately shoots her twin.. but Helo freaks, and bolts away as fast as he can. Richard Hatch seems to love playing Zarek, the slimy plotting, but very smart terrorist prisoner turned politician. What is Ellen Tigh's real agenda, and did she kill Vallence for Tom? This is a mystery that has never been answered..yet. Gaius is finally given something new to do rather then talk to and frak his virtual love goddess, or test blood samples. After his initial resisitance, he slips right into the political role, and seems to relish in it.. but as in everything Baltar does... purely for his own selfish purposes. This is the second time we see Roslin's cold side...although not as drastic as killing a Cylon...her decision to oust her close friend out of the Vice candidate position, is a sad one, and it hurts her...but it is a very cold and calculating decision nevertheless. She is willing to substitute and use a man she clearly does not even like for her own abitions. The celebration is a joyous scene. From the big band music.. to Adama practically sweeping laura off her feet, and onto the dance floor. And how about Kara, and that killer Va-va-vamp, to the nines, dressed to kill look? Look closely, kiddies. One time...one time only! You won't see that happen again. She dances with Lee.. then Gaius cuts in. Someone should warn him about Kara and booze. Boor baltar. Then... Helo finds out the truth. He has fallen for a Cylon. He has been played..duped.. and it scares the hell out of him... and he doesn't even know about the bun in the toaster. Wait till the morning after.

The Hand of God
Avg Score: 9.15    Total Ratings: 625    Total Reviews: 10
This is one awesome episode! One of the many downsides about being a fleet on the run and under constant pursuit is that supplies run out. Especially food and fuel. The Cylons aren't stupid. They know this. One of the best thins they can do to catch Adama and his fleet is to anticipate, find, stake out, or even take over any and all resources the Colonials will need to survive. When the holocoust happened, most every ship in the fleet was in transit to one destination or another, taken by surprise with no chance to re-fuel, and has jumped away from the Cylons hundreds of times since the attack... using up vast amounts of remaining fuel in the process. The fleet's fuel is in danger of running out. Boomer and Crashdown's Raptor patrol runs into an asteroid rich in Tillium fuel along with a refinery... crawling with Cylons. They have two choices. Make another jump..on the slim chance of finding another source, which the Cylons will most likely have taken control of as well. Or they can do the unthinkable, and take the fuel from the Cylons by force. Crazy plan, right? So..who ya gonna call? The craziest pilot in the fleet is also the best pilot in the fleet. Adama approaches Kara for a plan..which she has. Now... Kara does not trust any other pilot but herself to pull off her own ops. However, Kara is still recovering from having her kneecap shattered (You Can't Go Home Again), and cannot pull off the maneuvers for this one. Lee will have to fly in her stead. Lee tells Kara that he WILL get this one done, but the truth is.. he's very worried that, in this case..not being as crazy as Starbuck might just get him killed. Adama reassures him of the faith he has in him. "You're my son", he tells him. Kara, not leading her squadren for the first time in combat, is going crazy just sitting on the sidelines. Both Bamber and Sackhoff are awesome to watch as they explore , come to terms with, and eventually overcome their insecurities with the almost impossible task at hand. It's also great to see Father and Son moving closer together again. I love the moment when he gives Lee his Grandfather's good luck lighter. Lee tells his Father.." I'll bring it back." Adama replies, "You'd better, or I'll kick your ass. It's a good lighter. " It seems head Six has finally made progress in convincing the slightly insane Gaius that he is an instrument of God. I don't know how much money they poured into this episode, but the effects and battle shots are nothing short of breathtaking! Apollo does find his "beyond insane" side, and performs a maneuver that would probably make Starbuck soil her panties. But he gets the job done, and tosses the lighter back into his Fathers hands. This is the first indication that Laura Roslin's Kamala induced halucinations have to ties to the prophesies of Pythia, which truly begin the search for the REAL Earth. On Caprica, Sharon has her first bout of morning sickness, and Helo sees another Six, which will start him on the path of learning the truth about the woman he's with.

Bionic Woman
Avg Score: 8.25    Total Ratings: 3181    Total Reviews: 105
Okay...let's get this one over with. yeah...I held off on watching this. I had a ready made, and biased opinion....which was , "There is only one Jamie Sommers, and she is played by Lindsay Wagner. " Not only was I a fan of the original show, but THAT Bionic Woman and her male counterpart were my childhood heroes. But something hit me today, and that was.. Why don't I just set all that aside, and not listen to the nay-sayers..and see for myself, and judge for myself. Nice idea...but it didn't change a thing. In fact, viewing just the pilot only reinforced my negative perceptions. Now, I didn't go into this thinking I was going to see a re-tread..and in no way did I expect Ryan's Jamie to resemble Wagner's Jamie in any way. I knew that this series had plenty of offscreen problems to doom the concept from the beginning. First of all, the Bionic concepts used in the original stories were all tied into concepts introduced in the Martin Cadin book, 'Cyborg", the contents of which are all copywrited, as are virtually all elements of the original series via continued litigation between the Cadin Estate, Universal Studios and Dimension films. Therefore, Universal, NBC, and Eick himself only have access to the name Jamie Sommers...and that is all. Everything else had to be completely re-done, and could not resemble the original in any way, shape or form. All the more reason to expect a great writer-producer like David Eick to come up with concepts that would overcome those shortcomings. Not only did he not...it doesn't even look like he tried! So, let's examine what could have been done here.....1. Characterization; virtually nonesistant: each act is designed for viewers with very small attention spans. The average scene is over within a minute , maybe two...(tops) of it's beggining. This leaves no time to explore any of these characters..let alone Jamie herself, using any depth whatsoever. And without depth, without being allowed to get to know the woman to whom these events have swept over, and totally changed the life of.. you give the viewer next to no reason to care what the hell happens to her... so you almost strip clean any sense of drama right there. All of the supporting characters are pretty much cardboard stereotypes, with no personality at all. 2..... Action and Flash; Oh, you get a decent amount of that here. This factor is probably the only acception to the scene time problem stated above. You just know when it comes time to see a fight, that's gonna be a longer scene. But, God forbid the audience should have to sit through even a five minute conversation. Please, we'd grab the remote the first chance we get, right? And i really hope that the editor on this was one of the highest paid on staff. he certainly seems to be the one who did the most work here. 3. What is up with all this grunge/metal/whatever blasting on top of all the scenes? This is on so many shows today....and I am soooo sick of it. All of this flash and fancy footwork looks good, and yeah..the Bionic effects look cooler know than they did then...but, so what? It's not like I expected slo-mo, or the TM Bionic sound effect of old. I did however, look for the one aspect...the one quality that made the previous series the success that it was, and made it so appealing in the first place. I'll tell you what it is. You ready? Can you handle it? Per-son-a-li-ty. Jamie.. as far as the old series goes, was intoduced as a 1 shot guest star on The Six Million Dollar Man. She was also killed off in that first story. But the actress playing her, Lindsay Wagner, injected so much sparkling personality into the character which was so well written in the first place... that audiences would not tolerate seeing her die. The writers had to really come up with a believable concept to bring her back....which they did, but not without a price...she looses most of her memory, and has to begin anew. But her personality, her spirit, her charm.. not her Bionic abilities, not the missions... is what endured the character to audiences so much.. that after being just a two time guest star...she had to have her own show... thanks to the fans who demanded it. Indeed, the whole key to the phenomenon of the earlier series, is that these people did NOT loose their spirit, their humanity, in spite of their new found classification as a much needed weapon or commodity. The fact that the writers and producers of this show lost sight of this, is why the show only lasted 8 episodes. I don't expect a blatent re-make , guys. But a little forsight, common sense and TLC might be nice. And this from one of the creators of Battlestar galactica. Tsk, Tsk, David. You should be ashamed of yourself. There is NO excuse for this.

About Me

My name is Ted. I'm originally from New Jersey. I'm now in South Florida. Yuck! Moving soon to Colorado. Yay! My wife says I'm a little too honest and open, and I guess I can be. But I stop short of stupidity. I love making friends and meeting people. I really don't watch much live TV..I hate commercials. I also love movies, and music is a special passion (Anything from the 40's to mid-eighties. Some after that, but not much. Not a lot of substance to today's music IMHO. I have married to a wonderful, beautiful woman named Patti. She has the most striking deep blue eyes, so I call her Sapphire. Her user name on here is MyAngelSapphire. She's been burned on other sites, so she is very careful of the friends she accepts. I'm not very political, but have very negative views about the war, though my step-daughter was in Iraq, so I do support the troops. I'm a little crazy (In a good way), can be a harmless flirt, and i love the fact that I am meeting so many great people here. My Myspace url is here. It's a private page, so I have to approve you, let me know. Also, I have a You Tube account http://www.youtube.com/sapphiresteddibear Feel free to send a friend request there if you like. I should be opening another shortly to replace that one. Despite all the accounts on You Tube which post music being constantly suspended, I'm in the process of running a music project called "The Heart Of Rock N Soul". It's a list of what I feel are the greatest songs of the Rock and Roll era. I've sort of been neglecting my You Tube account, but plan to get back to it, and start sending out songs one-a-day again. I'm asking my friends to comment on the songs on the video page itself.
