Lost Through The Looking Glass (2) Avg Score: 9.62 Total Ratings: 2000 Total Reviews: 206 Users who agree: 5 |
There is no amount of preperation you can do before you watch this episode. What ever you think might happen, what ever series altering twists you think might occur, let me put it to you this way; you have no idea.
This is the greatest episode of LOST ever. Period. Not only does it bring thrills, excitement, twists, action, character, and mystery, it brings everyone to an emotional peak.
Charlie's death was one of the best scenes ever. I have never been so sad to see a character go, yet so happy in the way he went. Charlie showing Demond the message and pushing away from the glass then doing the sign of the cross, is pure televison gold. It brought a tear to my eye. Is this the last we see of Charlie? I hope not.
Jack emotional breakdown and beatdown of Ben was amazing acting all round. He did what a normal human would do in his position, and that was not think, and show your anger through violence. And Jack's standoff with Locke was brilliant, with the final pay off with the castaways making their first contact with the out side world.
Then there is the final scene. This sequence stands alone as the most series altering ever. And as I said earlier, nothing can prepare you for the shock of your realization. It turns out that Jack's brilliantly written and acted flashback is actually and flashforward to him after the island. This twist actually makes you have to go back through the episode and rewatch it again. Jack's conversation with Kate means that they both get off the island. But does this less-en our interest in the castway's future; not at all. The question is no longer do they get off the island, it is now who gets off the island and how. The final scene is filled with teasing diolauge into what happened between Jack making that phone call on the island, and his meeting with Kate. What are they lying about? To whom does Kate have to go home to? Why do they have to go back? Why does Jack think that they weren't suppose to leave and Kate says that they were right in their choice? The entire episode is filled with questions as to what happened to the castaways. Why does Jack refer to his dead father in the present tense? Why does Jack say "Forgive Me" before he is about to jump off the bridge? Who is in the casket? Why is John Jocke so important to the island? And probably the biggest question of all; why is it so important that the castaways stay on the island? I guess we will just have to wait and see.

This is one of the all time classic 24 plot twist endings and my favourite. After stopping the missle and saving the day, there is one more enemy Jack must evade. After the biggest mistake of his life in raiding the chinese embassy, resulting in the death of one of their agents, Jack Bauer becomes the number one man responsible for the job, as a result of the fellow agent that the chinese got to. So instend of Jack coming clean, and alowing the assassin to "accidently hurt him", he does something truly amazing. Tony, Michelle and Chloe, all help with staging his death, so that all will forget about him. They drop him off at a railway tracks where they say their final goodbyes. After Tony and Michelle leave, Jack makes a call to the final person who knows that he is alive; David Palmer. Their phone conversaion remains one of the series' greatest scenes and is very emotional and tear jerking. The final words of "Jack Bauer is dead" remian the most powerful in the series' history. And then comes the most famous shot in 24; Jack putting his glasses on and walking down the train tracks at dawn; a dead man, a true hero.

Lets admit it; nothing is going to beat the season 1 finale. Nothing. And coming from my opinion, I hated the season 2 finale. So to tell you the truth, this episode had alot of pressure on it. Alot.
The plot mainly continues off from where episode 23 ended. Jack and Chase are still in the subway station, trying to find Rabens. Palmer is waiting for Wayne to get back from Sherry's and Tony is look'n at 20 years.
First off, let me get over with the bad stuff. Nobody, and I mean nobody I have ever heard or met, has ever been pleassed with Saunder's death. He was such a great villain and to get rid of him so easily and wastefully..God..makes me angry. Any time a character that has come out of no where and greatly effects one of the main players, I can't stand it.
Wayne arrives to the President's office to give him some bad news.(well come on, I don't know if I would consider my ex-wife who pretty much ruined my life's death, BAD news) Anyway, Wayne gives it to him straight, and Palmer, so grieved over the death of Sherry, decides not to run for re-election. And I must say that I am kind of glad they didn't show the scene in which Palmer tells his kids that their mother is dead. I know it is just because they couldn't get the actor's who play his kids, but it just would've slowed the story down for the real drama.
Now back to Jack. As they continue to search for the vile carrier, Jack has his finale scene with Chase, as they clear up on their family issues. All comes to a complete halt when a citizen is un accounted for. This leads the two of them on a wild car chase throughout LA. I must compliment the camera crew and Jon Cassar on some exellent camera work during the chase. Rabens comes to an elementary school, which is of course, filled with inoccent little children, just waiting to die. As they continue to look for, Chase and Rabens himself duke it out in a science room. Jack saves Chase's ass in the nick of time, but the threat is barely over. Chase attached the vile casing to his arm, whcih cannot be taken off. The scene with Jack and the bloodly Chase remains one of the most intense scenes ever. It doesn't sound tense just hearning about it, there's just something about it. Maybe the scary sound of the ticking clock, or Chase's hard breathing after a beat down, or the fact that Jack maybe can't save the day this time. What ever it is, it means me feel like they wouldn't do it this time. Jack however spots an axe on the wall, and Chase ergues him to use it for the unthinkable. As Jack goes over to the wall, Chase prepares himself for the ultimate amount of pain. As Jack holds the axe to the hand of Chase and as Chase braces for imapct, there is this massive feeling of, "they're going to call back" in the air. This is why 24 is the best show ever; no limits. Jack does the dead and tosses the vile in an air tight frige just before time runs out. This remains one of my favourite 24 moments ever.
Few.... The season doesn't end with a big twist or shocking death, but the releasing of a tarnished and beaten soul. In his first real moment alone and peaceful, Jack lets it all out and just sobs it all out. The scene is very powerful and heartbreaking to capoff a brillant season.
Congrats guys, you did it again!!!
Top 3 moments
- Jack pointing the gun at the class room full of kids (No Jack, they are not the bad guys....:)
- the super tense timer scene, all leading to that handful of pain classic moment
- Jack's final emotional breakdown

I can't believe what I just saw. A season 6 episode that is actually freak'in amazing. But not just freak'in amazing, I mean, holy sh*t, just crapped myself freak'in amazing!
There was so much to love in this episode, I don't know where to begin. The episode starts off, with the cliffhanger that ended the previous episode. The seemingly inoccent Wayne Palmer, now plans the strike the Arab country with a nuke, because of their country - mens' actions that day. With the nuke minutes from impact, everyone panics and brases for the results of the strike. From the first time, maybe ever, my heart was racing for a President plotline. In the end we find out that Pres. Wayne was bluffing and that he just needed to threaten the ambassitor, so he will release valueable info on the bombs. There was no nuke in the missle.
Finally, Jack Bauer is back as the star of the show. And let me put it this way, he kicks serious ass! With Fayed now in the hands of CTU, Jack plans to take him back to headquarters to be intreogated (aka. severly tourtued) However on the way there, their truck transport is hit by another armored truck, and Jack, Doyle, and a couple of tack. team members are what it looks like killed, after a shoot out takes place. Fayed escapes with the Arabs who attacked the truck. But once the truck speeds away, Jack and the others sit up. They pulled the CTU switcher-roo on Fayed, who now thinks he is in the hands of his people.
As Jack and Doyle follow the truck and Fayed questions his men's leader, the plan goes horribley wrong. Fast!! They needed an Arab general, who is being held captive, to tell Fayed they he sent the men. However after that is a success, CTU finds out that the general spoke of a man who is dead, as if he is alive. Fayed could know the trap. As the truck enters a tunnel, all signals cut off, and the truck is found crashed with the men killed inside. Fayed had escaped. Jack follows the trial of Fayed and finds him getting into a garbage truck. Of course what does Jack do, well what else. Rides underneth it of course! Spider-Jack is back!
Fayed brings the truck to a warehouse and tells the other terrorists they will hit downtown LA. Jack follows them in and sees the two nukes. He desides to start a massive shoot out. And pretty much kicks alot of ass. In the end, he and Fayed are left, gunless, and the two duke it out in a classic brawl. Jack ends it with one of his best kills ever; hanging Fayed in chains, lifting him up with a control pannel, and saying "Say hello to your brother..." Kick Ass Jack Is Back!!!
Thats not all folks(I know, it's alot!). The time is shown and only a minute is left, just time for one more twist. The nukes are safe, Fayed is dead, everyone is happy, la, la, la, la..ect.. Ring! Ring! Ring! Doyle's phone rings for Jack. Only to hear the quiet, frightened and scared voice of Audrey. Holy sh*t, she's still alive! And something tells me that Jack hassn't kissed and made up with the Chinese yet.. Thus comes the end of one major plotline and the begining of another one. And thus ends one of the great 24 episodes of all time.
Top 3 moments;
- Jack fighting and hanging Fayed. Classic brawl and death, topped off with the perfect Jack punchline, "Say hello to your brother.."
- the CTU switcher-roo. I did not see that coming!
- Audrey!!!! Ohhh baby! Jack most likely ain't to happy!

After the rush that was season 1, we get left with the most thrilling and satisfing conclusion ever. All events, all characters, all plots, arcs and emotions, all lead to this. After the OMFG shocker that ended the pervious episode, we knew that this was destined to be a classic. And it was nothing short of being one of the best episodes, on any show, ever.
Palmer has a finale confrotation with Sherry, in some scenes that truely bring the house down. The best acting from Haysbert and Penny all season. For once their story is truely interesting.
The Jack story line speaks for it's self. He arrives to the docks to make a trade for him for his daughter, with the Drazens. Of course now that we know that Nina is the mole, she can pretty much manipulate Jack any way the Drazens want. Which is what she does, telling Jack that his daughter is dead. This now only makes him break down into a teary mess, but propels him into a ferocious, vengeful, rampage on the Drazens. Their dock shoot out is without a dout, the best action scene of the first two seasons. After taking care of the Drazens, there is onlt one more person left to take down. Jack rushes to CTU to stop Nina, before she escapes. The result is climactic brilliance.
The ending tells you that this is behond a TV show, with lots of drama and suspence. It sets Jack's charatcer up for every season after it, and propeles 24 into history forever. Love it or hate it (I loved it), it is the most sitisfying conclusion ever, to the best pilot season ever. Congrats 24, my hat is off to you!
Top 3 moments (too many to choose from!)
- Jack's final confrontation with Nina. Remains one of my favourite dialouge scenes ever. ("Your job? How many people died today becuase you were doing your job!?")
- The first silent clock ever. Actually scared me the fist time I saw it! Sad, sad ending.
- The dock shoot out. What else? When I see Jack stuffing his jacket with ammo, I get so pumped up!
