United Artist 90th Anniversary Event by prettyedy

Many local theaters are showing classic United Artist movies to celibrate it's 90th Anniversary.

I just watch the 1960 Best Movie The Apartment with Jack Lemmon and Shirley MacLaine at my local theater. Really, nothing compares to seeing a movie in a theater. It's the little details you can see that gave this masterpiece texture and richness. Mad Men draws a lot from this movie for the 1960s corperate culture of men vs. women.

All the movies in the anniversary series are fresh beautiful new prints.

During the months of July and August these are the UA movies showing in my local theater as double features:

The Apartment & Some Like it Hot
The Great Escape & The Magnificent Seven
The Thomas Crown Affair & The Manchurian Candidate
Manhattan & Annie Hall

If you can see one of your old favorites in a theater this summer I think it would be well worth your while.

Great TV Podcast by prettyedy

I was just listening to archives of a great television podcast from the San Francisco Chronicle Tim Goodman's TV Talk Machine. Tim was talking about the Sopranos. It was just three shows from the series finally. I had a moment of deja vu. It made me look down at the podcast date. It was May 17th 2007; the day I registered on tv.com. It was the Sopranos that got me to finally signup, again. Now I know the my profile says Member since May 18, 2007 but I did signup on the 17th.

I had joined TV Tome in 2004 but I hated that I couldn't use my old user name at tv.com. But now I'm back.

I just watch the Denzel Washington's, time travel thriller Deja Vu. Adam Goldberg's hyper geeky scientist character said, "I need more Cow Bell."
