Nelson and Herman are introduced in this episode. Nelson portrayal as a bully is sinisterly awesome. Marge and Lisa have nothing to do. Abe for the first time does a great job teaching Bart to fight back school bullies. In my opinion, from the first five episodes in season 1 this one is the best in bringing in the hilarious Simpson antics which was in season 3 and above. I really enjoyed Bart's funeral and Homer appearing in a thought balloon. After all the armistice signing, Nelson still bullies at school and eventually hangs out with Bart and the boys in future episodes.

This episode was very out of character. Smithers is white again in this one, previously he was black, Lou was white! Marge has a drinking problem (totally in this one)and shovels the food with the kids...Lisa behaves like Bart, and Homer being the most competent Simpsons and the one thing I can't take it is that Homer willingly pawns the t.v. It is so weird watching Homer doing everything to get the family straight. The only character that seems to be normal is Bart. In this episode, we also get to see the first scene Itchy and Scratchy, first time appearance of Dr. Marvin Monroe. It has funny scenes which I love like Marge getting drunk, and the family shock treatment.

Homer got fired for the first time for gross incompetence or we can say accident and being promoted as the Safety Inspector...until now. It's really ridiculous because of the reason he got fired,(there will be a meltdown alert every now and then in the future). The riveting moment is when Homer tries to commit suicide and the Simpsons reunited at the intersection. When Homer's proposal for a stop sign is approved, Homer just doesn't stop there, he became very safety conscious for Springfielders putting safety signs everywhere since he got nothing to do. When Homer leads a group of protesters outside the nuclear power plant,Burns sees Homer as a people person and offers him the Safety Inspector job and vows to concentrate on his work (yeah right, we all know that's not going to happen). This episode lacks some laughter and Burnies room looks awful

Married to the Blob

A spoof from the movie Blob, Homer start to eat people & his cat, God this guy will eat anything. I find it very hilarious with event that homer stumbles upon, the October fest, teenagers beach party was a first class gag with the squeaky-voiced-teenager. You Gotta Know When To Golem

It’s an okay story, at first it was funny but I didn’t like it when the golem started talking, kind of annoying. Fran’s appearance was good making fun at her clothes. The real funny part is gotta be Chief Wiggum’s entrée, dismissing the case for a deep fried latke.

The Day The Earth Looked Stupid

War of the Worlds radio hoax was a terrific plot to end this episode, Marge gotta stop giving ideas again to the people of Springfield, good going there Marge! This was a perfectly straight satire of the war in Iraq when Kang & Kodos invaded the town that was depicted perfectly without going overboard.

Season 18 continues to strive in this third episode; every scene is memorable with a good solid story & a good sub plot, which makes this episode even more entertaining watch. In fact I love the sub plot more than the main plot. The couch gag was excellent in this one with Ralph, the mall scene especially Homer eating gummy worms Principal Skinner getting forced into humiliating situations thanks to Bart knowing his extreme allergies to peanuts. Star Wars spoof was brilliantly sketched in this one with the music. The episode was able to make an easy example of how women are still unjustly discriminated at in certain lines of work. Normally a story like this would feel preachy and boring, but The Simpsons handled the issue in a well silly enough manner that it didn't feel like you were being hit over the head with the theme.
