Almost ran over a doggy!!! :-(

There is an old gentleman who lives in my area and owns three little dogs. He can't walk well, but has a little scooter that he drives around on, with his three little dogs running along behind him. Normally I think it's quite cute, but not after today.

Today, as I was driving to the supermarket, one of those little dogs decided that the road was the best place to be and ran out into the middle of my side of the road. I had to slam on my brakes and swerve into the oncoming lane to avoid running it over, as it stood staring at it's owner. The poor man was yelling and frantically trying to get off the scooter to get to the little brat.

It took quite some time afterward for my heart to slow down again and my hands to stop shaking. This is why my dog is never allowed off her lead.

Ants, Snakes and Slugs, Oh My!

That is what my last three blogs have been about.

All I can say is be grateful that I haven't gotten started on the mice, moths and millipedes. The MMM's. Till now that is.

That would be mice that make Sassy fall over in fright and hurt her shoulder, then tease and torment Leah till she snatches them up in her little mouth before dropping them in disgust so they can crawl into the heater and DIE leaving us to get pliers and drag their little bodies out through the vent by their dead little tails. Our house is a warzone with poison everywhere behind barriers built to keep Leah from sampling said poison.

That would also be the moths that flutter around outside desperately trying to find the light, all the while battering their little moth bodies in vain against the windows and then when Sassy dares to take the dog outside they chase her up the ramp to the back door where she slams the door in their little moth faces while trying to work out how best to let the dog in without the moths coming in with her.

And lastly the millipedes that have decided to turn the house into their own little version of an elephant graveyard. They aren't scary, or harmful... they just like to come inside our house to DIE. Yay us.

Thus concludes the series of blogs dedicated to the wonderful inhabitants of Sassy's house. Till something new shows up that is. Much loff to you all!

*squish* Huh? Ew!!!

I just stepped on a slug. With no shoes on. Or socks. Just my nekkid foot. And a slug. Meeting in the dark on a cold winters night. *shudders*

Ah well, I scrubbed them both up nice and clean (even the one without the slime on it). Now my feet smell like lemon myrtle. All's well that ends well I guess.

I am of course rather sad that my first blog in almost three months was about a dead slug.

Snakes alive!

There are live snakes in my garden!

Okay, okay, there was only one and it was a baby, but the fact that it looked very much like a black snake (which is a deadly one) and the fact that my dog Leah was the one that found it scares the bejeezus out of me.

I think I preferred the dead one that we found in the backyard a few months back. Sure, Leah rolled in it, but at least it couldn't bite her!

My skin has yet to stop crawling... I am gonna have nightmares tonight!

A Tip for all dog owners.

I found out something interesting today and thought that I would share it with you all.

"A dog does not like to eat food that is swarming with ants".

Who knew?

So much for her bowl being an "Ant Free" bowl. What a waste of money that was.

Hope that you all find that little tidbit useful. Nighty night!

Mr Burns outsources his power plant to India, sending Homer along as a manager (well he caught the bouquet so I guess he deserved it). Which goes surpisingly well till Homer starts thinking he's a God. Elsewhere Patty and Selma kidnap Richard Dean Anderson, but get more than they bargained for when he discovers his inner MacGuyver.

A hilarious episode, let down only by the cheesy Bollywood ending. I was happy to get a glimpse of Ling. We haven't seen her since she was adopted last season, and I was starting to wonder if she had disappeared into one great big plot hole.

This episode was proof that the Simpsons do still have it... on occasion.

When a family comes home unexpectedly while Earl is robbing their house, he was to drop what he’s thieving and hide. Unfortunately he hides underneath a boys bed. The boy discovers him and thinks it's the boogeyman. So now Earl has to make up for traumatising the kid. Young Albie demands that to make up for what he did, Earl has to be his slave for a day. After being a slave, Earl discovers that he did much more than give the kid a fright, but made him too scared to sleep with the lights. So Earl sits in the tree outside Albie’s window for a week, in case he’s needed, while Albie slowly dims the light each night till he can sleep in the dark.

I liked this episode much more than the most recent episodes. This one had the heart and humour that makes this show so enjoyable and entertaining. I marvel at the fact that no one question why Earl was hanging around outside a kids bedroom though. We didn’t get to see much of Catalina which I find a shame. She’s a lovely character, and should be used more often. That aside, this was an excellent episode, of an excellent show.

5.0 Mediocre
The Simpsons

The NFL is establishing a new football team in Springfield. Unfortunately when the commissioner stops by the Simpsons house to use the loo and phone, he is mistaken for a burgler by Grandpa and tied up. Thanks to Grandpa there is now no new team for Springfield. With the whole town against him, Grandpa turns to assited suicide, but even that goes wrong.

While I feel for the old coot, I find that he just isn't interesting enough for a whole episode to be devoted to him, and I must admit I object to the subject of euthanasia being used for comedic value. But I won't go into that. An average episode.

Homer Simpson, This is Your Wife
Avg Score: 8.32    Total Ratings: 252    Total Reviews: 35
To get enough money to purchase a plasma TV of his very own he agrees to a wife swap show (without Marge's permission of course). Of course Marge's new "husband" falls in love with her, while Homer's new "wife" is horrified with Homer. Drama, drama, drama.

While it didn't have the most interesting of plots, this actually was a pretty good episode. Homer refusing to leave Lenny's couch (and TV) for days was most entertaining. I quite enjoyed the "wifes" contempt for Homer, with the scenes where she burns Homer's underwear, after forcing Homer and Bart to write reports on the TV shows they watch being the most amusing. This episode was mostly let down by the interaction between Marge and... the other husband... whatsisname. It was uninteresting, with most of the jokes there falling flat. Not bad, not bad at all.

Veronica Mars
The Rapes of Graff
Avg Score: 9.35    Total Ratings: 359    Total Reviews: 15
Veronica checks out the local college… and in typical Veronica style she can’t go anywhere without someone asking for her help. This time it is Troy… whatever his last name is, the dude Veronica dated briefly in the first season who turned out to be a drug addict. Anyways, he’s accused of date rape and begs Veronica for help. Meanwhile Logan dumps Hannah in exchange for her father dropping his testimony, and Keith helps Cliff whose briefcase (containing Logan’s case files) has been stolen by a hooker. And Wallace was in there too…

I don’t like the way Wallace seems to have been relegated to the role of lackey, but it doesn’t much look like they are changing that anytime this season. For the first time this season I felt sorry for Logan as he asks Hannah for forgiveness for what he did… then I wanted to slap her when she did.

Still something of a filler episode, but far better than the previous two episodes. I thoroughly enjoyed Veronica’s sassiness and use of her taser and giving all them nasty college boys what for. She already has made herself some nice enemies for if she decides to go to college in Neptune. (which of course we know she will… assuming there’s a season 3)

As we are heading towards the end of the season the show is starting to focus more and more on the unsolved mysteries of the season, and thank goodness for that. Only a few more hints were dropped, but the story is moving along and they seem now to be trying to link them together. I look forward to the end of the season when hopefully all our questions are answered.
