I know my fellow gamespotters can help me with this...

1. I have a lappy for now, thats all I can game with for the time being. Its a 8400M equivalent which is not powerful, it cannot run GTASA & Doom3 on full settings smoothly. So condition one, should not be a heavy game.

2. I dont like the keypad of the lappy, I am too lazy to buy a usb keyboard, but I have a PS2 style usb controller. So condition two, plz suggest a controller friendly game. Shooter not recommended.

3. Should not be difficult. My good non-gamers frnds (who I live with) will once in a while play that game (Well they have played CS atleast). Also because I wont be able to give it hrs. If I spend 1 hr on it, I should make progress.

4. Should not be RPG, I can't play them :'(

5. Not that important preference, but I would like a gameplay oriented game, not story oriented. I will be missing plot dialogs frequently since I will be talking with people in the drawing room.

Prince of Perisa 2 or 3 are already on my mind (sands played already), one dude suggested me Rayman 3 too. Please suggest more, untill november I gotta have games to play

K so finally the time is coming close when I will have money to buy a console for myself. I am no fanboy of any system but I have found that Xbox 360 is failing in my eyes from all directions leading me to lean towards PS3. Following are the reasons why:

1. It just doesnt make sense to pay to play multiplayer (Xlive) it just doesnt. I know its made really well, user friendly and all, movies, trailors, demos blah blah, but that doesnt justify to make multiplayer a payable item. It has never been, it should never be. I already pay for my internet, thats enough.

2. If I buy a console, I expect to play with it for next 10 years (even more may be, I still play on my famicon-NES). With a console like x360, you are bound to lose it (rrod) after its warranty is over. Even if you have warranty and the customer service is good, it's just not right that I have to call them again and again to repair the badly designed system. I have even heard that some gamers r so scared, after the warranty is over, that they are not even turning their 360s on, lol! Sony on the other hand has built robust systems lasting well.

3. From above two paragraphs you must be clear that money is a problem in India, value for money becomes important. PS3 is a bluray player, people have started buying HDTVs in India, so sooner or later Indians will be hungry for HD movies. Until that time, blu-ray would have become prevelant and HD-DVDs have already lost anyway. Because of value for money, PS3 (considering pt. 1,2 as well) is a preferrable choice (even though a costly console).

4. My first preference to play any game will be on my PC. If a version for PC exist, I will play that. Every1 has a PC, its just the most used platform for gaming. Any gamer without a PC is incomplete. PC games are cheaper here too, their availability is better as well. Also PC is most customizable: I can connect a usb PS2 stylle controller to play DMC4, can use a wheel to play NFS games, mouse+keyboard is anyway best for FPS/shooters. Such usb controllers are available for cheap and they do their job. With consoles you are left with its controller, branded alternative controllers are not easily available and are costly.

This makes a console exclusive for exclusives, i.e. play a game on the console only because its not available for PC (I am not sure how many will agree with me on this but it makes sense). And for that PS3, is easily a better choice, since sony exclusives never come on PC (rare exceptions). M$ exclusives come to PC after a while since M$ owns both the platforms (360,pc) and likes to harness income from both.

5. Lets go on the other side of gaming world: Piracy! For a pirate, PC is preferrable, obvious, dont want 2 justify. On the console side, 360 is preferrable since it is moddable, PS3 is not. However a modded 360 is of no use after warranty, if it runs for long for you, you are lucky; the day it dies, throw it away. PS3 atleast will stay with you for a long time. In any case I am not looking to pirate games, its lot of hassle.

6. I see one comment coming, buy both consoles? Ok, my argument will/may b personal: I wont have enuf time to play games. If I own both, I just wont be using them properly, money for one of them is waste. Also because of lack of time, I will be playing single player mostly which renders Xlive pretty much useless for me to pay for it.

7. Nintendo Wii? No! Nintendo games are a separate cllass of games, you will just lose most mainstream games. Noteworthy point is that Nintendo has never released its consoles in India because of which Nintendo games (other than the NES ones) are not famous in India at all. Simply saying that dont bring Wii here, its a different cllass of console.

I am going to buy a PS2 anyway since its cheap and has a epic game library. Clearly the combination of PC, PS2 and PS3 is proving best to be able to play most games. But I never wanted X360 to lose for me! I always liked it, I have played on it. Please tell me it still has its chances?

I finished DMC4 and man I gotta tell you, What a game!!!! Its awesome! The cutscenes were just fantastic, and none of them were boring or felt too long. The gameplay rox, the combos and skill list etc, were spectacular. Level design had a little problems, only only little. I liked the game a lot. It's story telling is fantastic as well. Bosses look so very well created and impressive!

In the last post, I mentioned the game's performance is amazing considering its output. While playing I analysed somethings to prove its fantstic performance:

In game there are minimal shadows, doesn't do real-time shadow maps (e.g. doom3, FEAR). Lighting model is very simple. There is no real-time reflection (e.g. HL2, doom3). There is no HDR. The game also uses normal mapping very less, only the bosses, some few objects in the environment and the forest level were given proper normal mapping treatment. The game does not have Depth of field. The post processing effects (sun rays) in forest level are very tame.

Cutscenes additionally do shadows with low resolution shadow maps and low resolution real-time reflection. Cutscenes also use Depth of field. Graphically the strength of the game are high resolution textures, high detail models (watch out, if you have less VRAM, it will run slow on those) and out of control imagination . What I like about this game is, with not so next gen stuff, it is able to show things in a very high sophisticated profile.

Playing with Nero and Dante, both was fun. They had their own strengths and weaknesses. Nero had less moves and Dante had tons of moves but still Nero was fun to play with.

Other than this I finished these games on my PSP: Daxter, Syphon Filter Logan Shadow, Hellboy Science of Evil.

Daxter is a good game, when I started playing it, I kept on playing and playing. A platformer made by 'Ready at Dawn', thats the people who made GOW Chains of Olympus

Syphon Filter Logan Shadow (and Dark Mirror) are best PSP shooters; period! (Resistance may out throw them, but it has time to come). Dark Mirror I liked more, since Logan Shadow had under water levels which were slow and a burden to get over with. Overall fantastic!

Hellboy Science of Evil is not that good game. It is a beat em up, and has a cartoony kinda look in the gfx. The gfx are good but the control scheme has problems. If you punch, it takes a lot of time, combos dont make sense in such case. It takes so much time that enemies can hit you two times within that period. I am talking about light attack, let alone heavy attack. Not much fun, bosses were easy.

By the way did you guys know about this? God of War Betrayal. Its a side scroller mobile game with our very own Kratos! It works fantastic on a Nokia 6300, N71 etc. It is possible to emulate mobile/java games on PSP, so I am playing it on my PSP. We all have a hard-wire in our mind saying mobile games are bad, but guys, gives this a try on ur cell-phone for Kratos's sake

I dont know how to say this. I installed (Capcom's 'MT Framework' engine based) DMC4 Demo on an old system which has amd 3000+ (single core 1.8GHz processor) and an ATI X1800 graphics card. I started the game... IT LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL and was RUNNING SO SMOOTH!!!! I could not believe my eyes! I went to settings saw that the res running was 1280x1024 (max for a 17") and AA was turned off and graphics were set to 'high'. I turned AA on to 4X and graphics to 'very high' to see what happens. IT WAS STILL RUNNING SMOOTH and now looked EVEN BETTER!

How is this possible? I am freaking out! See for yourself, these screenies are 1280x1024, 4X MSAA, 'Very High' gfx running easily on I think 40-60 fps!
