Some Geeks Don't Surf (apparently)
One of my favourite bands OK Go brought out a DVD last month with all their music videos including their famous dancing videos. I ordered the DVD the day it came out (naturally) and have been waiting for the shipment to arrive from the States.
The parcel finally arrived today. (how good is that feeling when something you've been waiting for shows up?) As is the case whenever a package arrives in our office everyone wants to know what it is. We're like a knitting circle sometimes. So everyone wants to know what the package is and conversation starts up about the videos as a result.
Now I work with some pretty nerdy guys so it came as quite a shock that two of them hadn't seen the videos or heard of them. Needless to say they couldn't stop laughing once they saw them.
For those nerds out there that haven't seen the OK Go videos, go to okgo.net and check them out. You'll love them.

Oz Conversions Avg Score: 8.11 Total Ratings: 44 Total Reviews: 2 |
In the series to date, the show's writer(s) have done this with great skill. The ability to maintain and intertwine storylines of a vast number of characters is impressive to say the least. At times the show may seem unbelievable, but it never seems unreasonable.
Unfortunately this episode introduces a twist in that detained Chinese boatpeople are to be temporarily housed in the roughest section of a maximum-security prison, a place where vicious murders happen regularly. As expected putting innocents in amongst the Oz population leads to trouble, but hey, we could have guessed that, right?
If not for the fact that missing this episode would leave certain holes in the Oz storyline, I'd recommend missing this episode.

Oz The Routine Avg Score: 8.87 Total Ratings: 90 Total Reviews: 7 |
Most pilots play out as a way to introduce all the main characters and give their entire life story. In 'The Routine' you don't find out everything about everyone, (in fact you don't even get introduced to all the main characters at all) but you learn enough to ensure that you'll tune in again to find out what else is in store.
The main storyline in this episode revolves around Dino Ortolani, a homophobe that ends up working in the AIDS wing, who has been jailed for life for murder. One of his intended victims survived the attack and is now also an inmate in Oz and is hellbent on revenge.
To add to this the introduction of Kareem Said helps with introducing the different factions within the prison structure.

The opening sequence was as good and funny as ever but all storylines in this show felt contrived and poorly delivered.
The ring dilemma with Turk felt like bad 70s comedy and the drama life-or-death choice wasn't handled well. The one redeeming feature of the episode were some clever one liners.
To be honest I felt I was watching an B-grade movie version of Scrubs. Thankfully this poor quality of episode was a once-off.

This episode in particular stands out as the perfect example. We are told at the start of the episode that (excluding maternity and emergency wards) one-third of all patients admitted into hospital will die there. We then follow the stories of 3 patients, each being treated by one of Eliott, Turk and JD.
Each doctor ends up facing dilemmas toward the welfare of their patient, each of whom faces life-threatening complications. As a viewer, you become engrossed in the relationships formed, and spend so much of the episode wondering who will live and who will die.
'My Old Lady' is the defining episode for the early stages of Scrubs.

Wildboyz Avg Score: 8.62 Total Ratings: 538 Total Reviews: 31 Users who disagree: 1 |
In each episode, Chris Pontius and Steve-o travel to some location in the world and commune with nature. Generally this involves nature communing back, the guys rarely escape an episode without some form of bite or bruise.
One of my personal favourites is watching the guys run through a herd of animals in an attempt to cause a stampede. I can't explain why I like it but it cracks me up every time.
It is riveting viewing. When you see two guys dressed in a zebra suit being attacked by lions you just can't look away. It's train-wreck material.
Long Live Wildboyz and Beware the Black Mamba!!!
