Dancing With The Stars Semi-Final Results

I think we need to lose the whole "everyone's a winner" thing that America has come to love, because it some cases it just doesn't cut it. I love Dancing with the Stars, and seem unable to stop watching it. It's so much fun. But I feel that America needs to reconsider what they are doing. The suspense of the show is great because you never really know who is going to go next. But I feel that personalities aren't enough to propel a person forward in a competition, or at least it shouldn't be. Imagine going to an ice-skating competition and watching one particular skater with little experience clumsily make her way around the ice. Imagine that she had a mic, and was telling jokes along the way and doing silly, yet stupid tricks, that constantly landed her butt on the ice. Imagine if that person won. How unfair would that be to the other people who worked just as hard, but had more talent? Imagine that they had been honing their skills for months, even years to get that far, and then lost the medal to someone who only won because of her personality...because she charmed the crowd. How much do we love people for simply trying something? It's a noble deed, but those with the true talent might as well not even bother trying to really do the job well if it doesn't really matter. Hard work should be rewarded for sure, but doesn't talent count for something? Getting out there and dancing well doesn't come to everyone easily, and I will always have the back of the person who can go out there and naturally put on a good show. Someone who is nearly professional should never be pushed aside.

Dancing with the Stars

I can't wait to see the Dancing with the Stars semi-finals!! I can't believe I've been watching this season for this long. I guess that is because it only has 11 episodes!! I wonder who is going to go this week. I really hope it isn't Joey. He's my mom's favorite. Emmitt seems to have the crowd though. When it gets down to the final people, that's when voting gets uber-tough. I like everyone, but if i had to choose one person, it would be Emmitt, then Joey. I think Mario should win, but then Joey's actually pretty good too, so I have no idea. It just depends on the dances. I only have 1 more week before I can edit and post my new review. I did one for last year, but each year is different and I feel differently about the show now.

This is my first year as an American Idol fan, and I can't decide whether or not I'm happy about that. The latest cast-offs have left me in doubt of America's sanity, and in fear that the final winner will not be the most deserving of it. I'm sure the original intention of the show was to eliminate all but the absolute best from the competiton, but I don't believe that that system will hold up while viewers are allowed to vote. Perhaps if we listened to the judges (who know what they're talking about), the outcome would be fair and honorable for those involved. But I'm feeling inclined to bail before I get even more attached, as the heartbreak will no doubt be very great.

Ugly Betty

Surrounded by shallow models and a lack of morality, Betty has proven to be the pillar of integrity and virtue. I won't say she's flawless--no one is--just a breath of fresh air. Even though she doesn't have a great fashion sense (kind of ironic considering where she works), you will become attached to her wholesome personality. And as far as the fashion sense goes, most people aren't naturally good at putting outfits together. Unfortunately, the occasional sex scene pops up (like too many shows today), a little too often if you ask me. Besides that, (and the very gay marc, who is a bearable character), there isn't much else that I would mind watching. There is Alex-turned-Alexis, but that I can handle. All in all, it's a pretty decent show. Like I said, there are a few people with good morals. Without that, it wouldn't be possible to enjoy this show.

There are two doctors in this show, but there isn't a lot of medical jargon. The show doesn't center around the medical aspect. They deal with plenty of tough issues, like moving to a new town, and medical conditions. However, the illnesses aren't seen from merely a medical point of view, but a human one. The conversations are realistic, never cheesy or sappy. Some of them are quite touching as well.

I've heard that some of the episodes were rather boring, but to me, that's life. A show shouldn't just feature the slow, but the fast times as well. I also enjoy the show because Ephraim plays the piano, which is something I can relate to. And of course, there are plenty of other things that viewers can relate to, like certain relationship difficulties that the characters have.

7th Heaven

On a show about a family, there is bound to be plenty of problems for parents and children alike. The Camdens have gotten into a lot of scrapes over the years, but they've always made it through. They've dealt with issues like cutting, gangs, alcohol, and of course the everyday trials of a teen. But they don't forget about the struggles everyone may face right inside their own family circle. For the first few seasons it was a great family show, but unfortunately, in the last couple of years it has turned into a teen soap. These heavenly teens have always had teen problems, but when they grew closer and closer to adulthood the writers changed the scripts. It seemed as though every episode had to do with who was in love with who or who was secretly getting married and less about the problems of the world. In the more recent episodes, there have been plenty of new faces, too many in fact for me. The new faces wouldn't be a problem if there weren't so many of them that I didn't like. For example, I truly dreaded Simon's wedding because I couldn't stand the bride. They did have one great character development episode where I started liking her more, but that wore off quickly. Even Ruthie (who I realize is a teen now) has become snotty and rebellious. Hopefully that will improve soon. And let's not forget the three teens that Rev. Camden recently took into his home. I haven't watched but a few episodes that they've been in, but something about them just doesn't feel genuine to me. It could be the acting, but I don't know. It's annoying watching the tall blonde of the three. She always seems to be complaining and comes across to me as ungrateful. It's also unfortunate that Mary and Matt are no longer around, but I've also noticed that Simon hasn't beem making that many appearances lately. For a show about family, there doesn't seem to be much family around, and you just can't replace those people. Honestly, I don't think that 7th Heaven is making the most of its comeback. There aren't that many shows that get cancelled and then renewed. It seems to me that Eric's illness is nothing but a device to get people to keep watching. I really doubt that they would actually let him die, but it could happen. This, alone, is the only reason I am still watching the show. Otherwise, I don't think it should have stayed on the air this long.

It's tough to write this review after only watching the show 2+ years ago, so I'll have to at least tell you about the moments that I can still remember. It's very much like The Bachelor, with a twist. 12 city girls head to Los Angeles, expecting to be welcomed at a mansion, but find out that they're really heading to the sticks...the Australian sticks. Still in their ball gowns, (though the dresses are safely tucked in their jump suits), they jump out of a plane to the destination where their hero, Vadim Dale, is waiting. They're made to do everything imaginable that you know a city girl would hate. The ultimate test is to see which one of these ladies could survive the outback, and of course, who could forget the romance? They must also try to win Vadim's affections. Since this show is more than over, I suppose it's all right to mention the winner. At first I didn't like Natalie at all. When she asked Vadim where the outlets were, I rolled my eyes and laughed. I figured she would be one of the firsts to go. I guess opposites really do attract. I still don't know if she meant that as a joke or if she was really serious. Nevertheless, there's nothing like giggling over prom queens in the woods! A decent show, though it's no surprise that it didn't gain more than one season. There's really no way to do a second season of this show.
