The CSIs' Season Premieres

Alright, since I have this blog I figured I should probably use it. Anyways, I'm here to offer my take on the ideas behind the three CSI season premieres. Since I'm a spoiler nut, I'll be nice and only disclose what is in the promos.

CSI: Miami - Season Six - Monday, September 24 @ 10:00 pm (EDT)

My personal favourite of the three CSIs, CSI: Miami premieres next monday for its sixth season. Season five really made up for the train wreck that season four became and the season six finale looks as if it will make up for the rather subpar season finale "Born to Kill". With a new member added to Caine's family tree, a new twist in the Duquesne-Berkley relationship, and the return of Salas, the sixth season premiere looks like it will be difficult to dissappoint viewers.

CSI: NY - Season Four - Wednesday, September 28 @ 10:00 pm (EDT)

The season opener finds Mac and the team processing a crime scene with the blood on Lady Liberty's face. An interesting idea, but the promos are season promos and I don't think I've seen any season premiere specific promos yet.

CSI: Crime Scene Investigation - Thursday, September 29 @ 9:00 pm (EDT)

This is one of the most anticipated season premieres, picking up directly from where season seven left off, this season premiere will reveal the fate of CSI Sara Sidle and could change the LVPD CSI graveyard shift forever.

This was an extremely sad episode of CSI: NY because it was the last episode that we saw Aiden Burn in. Burned beyond recognition in a car after being beaten to death by DJ Pratt, Aiden was only identified through facial recreation from her skull. The effect it had on the team (and me) was upsetting as we realized that our hopes for Aiden's reappearance on CSI: NY were crushed. Call me crazy, but the characters grow on you to the point that you get attached. And in this episode the CSI: NY team lost the character I was most attached to.

Grand Murder at Central Station

This episode was very well written. Like the rest of the CSI: NY episodes, this one investigates one of the more mysterious and strange ways to commit murder -- this time it's putting lye in a stainless steel coffee mug and throwing it in the victim's face. It was also a rather upsetting episode as we had to watch Mac Taylor do something that every fan hates. He fired Aiden Burn for breaking an evidence seal to plant incriminating evidence on DJ Pratt, an action which would compromise the integrity of the lab. As for Vanessa Ferlito herself, she wasn't in this episode much, in fact the only times I saw her was when she was on her way to Mac's Office and when she was fired.

Emily Procter

When people ask me why I actually like Mondays or why I watch CSI: Miami all the time I have one answer. Emily. Emily does a fantastic job portraying arguably one of the best characters (aside from Rory Cochrane's Tim Speedle) on the show. Every week Emily's character brings a wonderful personality to a Monday and the optimism and seriousness balance out to make Calleigh Duquesne among the list of tough female characters that I know. Behind her charming smile and cheery personality is a fighter which is evident in the most recent CSI: Miami episode last Monday "Stand Your Ground". Emily Procter is a wonderful actress and the hottest ballistics expert I've seen.

Calleigh Duquesne is known for being the ballistics expert and you rarely ever see her pull out her gun. In this episode, Calleigh is forced into fight-or-flight mode after walking by a shoe store seconds after a murder occurs inside. When the murderers go after Calleigh, she's forced into fight-or-flight mode in which instinct takes over. The result causes her credibility to come into question when a car crashes through a storefront window and into a civilian. Horatio and the rest of the crew work to try and restore Calleigh's credibility while uncovering a potential drug ring in a middle school. Definitely worth a watch if you can catch it the next time it airs.

Who Wants to Be a Superhero?

Okay, so most of the "reality" show is staged, but which reality show isn't? This show offers a Stan Lee fan the opportunity to watch him pick and choose which superhero hopeful that he will write a new comic series based on. The first season aired last year with a contest boiling down to one winner (which I'm not gonna say for fear of spoiling it for you). The second season which airs July 26, 2007 features a new cast of people who hope to achieve the ultimate dream of becoming immortalized by Stan Lee as a new superhero in his comic books as well as having a movie made around his or her superhero. From whacky challenges to dramatic moments, this show is great for anybody looking to mix comic book-style heroes and reality television.
