The Dark Knight and the Doctors

Went to see The Dark Knight last night. It was freaking packed, more packed than I have ever seen out little movie theater ever be and they wouldn't let us inside to wait for the theater so we all had to stand outside in the hot humid Florida sun for at least a half an hour just to get into the theater. It was craziness out there, but let me just say that the movie more than made up for the sweaty factor.

I really like everyone in the cast, most of them are people that I would pay to go see their movies with just them by themselves but for all of them to be together is like a big Christmas present of fun. Everyone's performance was very good, but sadly it did feel like there were a few people who were underused, namely Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman, Michael Caine and actually Christian Bale. I would have liked more of the Bruce Wayne aspect in the movie, but what can you do?

Just as good as the movie were the 3 awesome trailer we got to see, Quantom of Solace, Watchmen and Terminator: Salvation. Let me say that I have already seen these on the internet, but that is nothing like seeing them on the big screen. Watchmen in particular was most impressive.

The Doctors: First Doctor Who and the episode Turn Left. What is up with Donna and her parallel universes? Very glad for the return of Rose even though I knew she was coming back and was not surprised at all I has just so glad to see her. I had no idea what she whispered to Donna at the end, but my husband was kind enough to clue me that there were really only two words that it could be. I think that was my favorite part of the episode at the end when the Doctor was talking to Donna and figured out what was going on.

Doctor Horrible's sing along blog was very enjoyable, although it ended rather abruptly. It had so much lovable-Jossness in it how could I not love it? NPH was so funny and sympathetic as Doctor Horrible who lost what he loved to get what he desired. Loved it when Captain Hammer ran out crying from his injuries.

More Shows I'm Watching

Started watching/DVR'ing Mission Hill, Season 2 of Melrose Place on SoapNet, X-Men Cartoon on Jetix and Charlie Jade on Sci-Fi Channel. Renting My So-called Life from library.

I am most interested in Charlie Jade because I have never seen it before whereas the other shoes I am re-watching. It's about a detective who gets sucked into a parallel world from his own and he finds out that his world is trying to steal the water supply from other worlds. I think it was shot in South Africa so it had a very rich, textured filmy kinda feel to it. All I know it that it was originally on Sci-Fi Fridays at 8pm and now they are burying it on Tuesdays at 3 in the morning, which is typically Sci-Fi Channel if you ask me.

Has anyone see this show or have any opinions on it? Also really loved the newest episode of Doctor Who with the Vastha Whatever in the library. Who is Dr. River Song (or whatever her name was) and what the heck happened to Donna?!?

Romans, Swingers, Couples and Weeds.

Just started watching the new show Swingtown. It's not great by any means, but I think it has potential to develop into soapy Wisteria Lane like fun.

Watched the first season of Weeds on DVD and I enjoyed it, but I have heard that suspension of disbelief becomes more of a necessity to watch this show. I especially enjoy Kevin Nealon in this show because it's like looking at an old version of people I knew back in high school and college.

Watched the entire series of BBC's Coupling, which was a cute and funny show. I understand why there were comparisons between it and Friends/Seinfeld/and Sex and the City, but I don't think that it was nearly as funny as any of those three shows. Mostly enjoyed it because of Jack Davenport as Steve and Gina Bellman (of Jekyll) as Jane.

Finished the complete HBO show Rome and so far this was my favorite of all the new shows that I have been watching. Everyone in the cast was very good and I really liked the way that it ended.

Summer TV may not be that great be that great, but at least The Venture Brothers are back. Project Runway and Eureka will both start soon. Go Team Venture!

Theft and Junk (Spoilers)

Junk: The new Indiana Jones Movie. Ok so it was tolerable. Like OK. I liked the rousing adventure, but ALIENS! Come on now. I can take the Indiana Jones supernatural aspect. Raiders with the big spooky. Temple of Doom with the sacred stones. Even the Holy Grail, but aliens! What a disappointment in the plot area.

Theft: Someone broke into my car this weekend and stole ALL of my CD's. It has taken me forver to build up a decent collection and more money than I want to think about and some schmucky schmuck has to break into my locked dumpy little car where the CD's shouldn't have evne be visible and klepto my stuff. I am just grateful that they didn't steal my care after I just spent $500.00 fixing it.

This was my worst Memorial Day weekend ever

Memorial Day Weekend

Finally!

The start of another long weekend. Love 'em! I think this weekend is dedicated to a few things though. Car repairs Indiana Jones, a cookout (if it's not to stinkin hot and humid) and a day over in Disney World visiting a friend who is down with her family.

Also just wanted to say that I have not been disappointed in any of the season finales of any of my regular shows. In particular Supernatural, Ugly Betty and Reaper. Only a few more weeks of Battlestar left before it goes on it's S4 break. Also the new season of Doctor Who is much better than I thought it would be. I really like Catherine Tate as Donna. She was annoying in the Runaway Bride episode, but she has been FABULOUS since then.

Everyone have a great, safe, holiday weekend!

This is actually my favorite episode of the series. Baltar and Six are my favorite characters and this episode is so pivotal in the developement of both Caprica Six and Sharon. The paranoia with the possibility of Sharon being boxed. The pure delicious evil of D'anna (#3 I think). The very beginning of the Neuro-Baltar. Notice how real Baltar is the first one to be vocally against Roslin's plans for Hera. This is the first real picture into Cylon life and the first time that we really see that Six did come to love Baltar. After the destruction of the Colonies all we have known is the Neuro-Six and she was, to understate, not always focused on showing Baltar love. Very suspensful episode and one that I have gone back to watch repeatedly.

After The Office I was ready to try this show. I had read many positive reviews of it and like both Ricky Gervais and Ashley Jensen. Now that I have watched the entire series I can say that I really believe the best part of the show was Ashley Jensen's performance as Maggie. She was so delightfully wacky and deluded that even in her most terrible moments she was still hilarious and lovable. Ricky Gervais really made the show "When the Whistle Blows" so painful to even sit through the brief moments that we the viewer saw, that I can completely sympathize with his horror of the catchphrase spewing evil that he had created. While I won't buy this show on DVD, I did enjoy it and would recommend it to others.

Features the actual destruction of the Train from Part One and includes Indy and Remy both being hijacked by the old group of soldiers into capturing an elusive German commander. This episode was actually more silly and laugh filled than part one and I enjoyed it more. Indy ends up "kidnapping his father" when capturing the German commander goes awry and he and Remy end up stranded in a hot air balloon with the snooty commander. Indy learns that you are only as old as you feel and that you can still wonderful things for your country at an age when you could be retired. Very enjoyable episode.

Indy teams up with a group of old soldiers and is hijacked into assisting them find The Phantom Train of Doom used by the Germans to blow up entire regiments with a massively huge 50 foot cannon. I like this one because the older men that Indy teams up with a very youthful and sassy and they run the mission like it's nobodys buisness. Remy, Indy's Belgian partner in crime, is only in this part for a very limited amount of time and spends most of it whining about being lost. Indy whines alot too in the beginning of his adventure with the older me, but he gets over it.

I don't know much about Roman history other than the obvious: Caesar + Ides of March = Bad kinda thing, but I did like this episode. I don't know if it is historically accurate in any sort of way, but I did enjoy seeing Polly Walker (of Patriot Games sorta semi fame) beginning her role as a viper Barbara Stanwyck Double Indemnity sorta of a woman. That's the kinda woman who everyone lives to hate. Nothing like starting a show with a nice fight scene and a flogging to get things rolling. I would have to say that I don't think this was the best pilot episode I have ever seen, but it was good enough to make me want more.
