And ~ What I'm Reading:

Okay, so last we left with Eve and Roarke looking at the deceased to try to figure out why the 'suspect' Reva was framed for their murders. As Roarke has more money than anyone in the world, and is technologically savvy, he's able to bust through the computer 'blocks' and get around CompuGuard (worldwide security agent for computer hacking) to find that the deceased were in fact spies. Spooks they call them, from the HSO -- Homeland Security Organization. Developed to track down and eliminate terrorists. The HSO often times employs the same methods that the terrorists themselves employ, thereby being a covert and very dangerous organization.
While garnering this information, Eve and Roarke find out the the HSO knew about her circumstances (the abuse by her father when she was only 8 years old) and did nothing about it. In addition, they knew that she was the one that stabbed her father to death, and cleaned up after her.
Needless to say, Roarke is ROYALLY PO'd, and is ready to track down the agent who was surveilling Eve's abusive father and his own no good father to garner information on an arms deal. (Roarke's father had met with Eve's father in reference to said arms deal for the 3 days prior to the date that Eve stabbed her father to death.)
So that's where we are so far, Roarke's bent for revenge and it's causing a bit of a rift between he and Eve. More later.

And ~ What I'm Watching:

Last night I watched Raising the Bar, it was a fantastic show!!! Tonight I'm going to try out 90210 and see if it's any good. That's about all that's going on, many of my shows don't begin until the end of September or early October.

My mum is coming home from the hospital today, I'll be popping by tomorrow to see her. I know that a therapist comes in every day, there's an occupational therapist twice a week and a physical therapist three times a week.

Today is my hump day ... but I have tomorrow off, because it's LABOR day. YAY

Heya folks,

My mother is quite surly today, apparently they aren't giving her enough pain meds. *snickers* Poor woman.

(Keep in mind folks, if you run your cursor over the link for the song of the day, you'll see the Artist/Band that actually performs the song)

I have been playing a bit of a game while I'm driving to work. Often times I see a 'single' shoe on the side of the road, I'm up to 107 of them now, since January. Weird huh?

And a funny for ya ...

LIVER & CHEESE

Three handsome male dogs are walking down the street when they see a beautiful, enticing, female Poodle.

The three male dogs fall all over themselves in an effort to be the one to reach her first, but end up arriving in front of her at the same time.

The males are speechless before her beauty, slobbering on themselves and hoping for just a glance from her in return.

Aware of her charms and her obvious effect on the three suitors, she decides to be kind and tells them, "The first one who can use the words 'liver' and 'cheese' together in an imaginative, intelligent sentence can go out with me."

The sturdy, muscular black Lab speaks up quickly and says, "I love liver and cheese."

"Oh, how childish," said the Poodle. "That shows no imagination or intelligence whatsoever."

She turns to the tall, shiny Golden Retriever and says "How well can you do?"

"Um. I HATE liver and cheese," blurts the Golden Retriever.

"My, my," said the Poodle. "I guess it's hopeless. That's just as dumb as the Lab's sentence."

She then turns to the last of the three dogs and says, "How about you, little guy?"

The last of the three, tiny in stature but big in fame and finesse, is the Taco Bell Chihuahua.

He gives her a smile, a sly wink, turns to the Golden Retriever and the Lab and says.........

Hey guys, I postponed my training session, so I could go to the hospital with my mother. She's come through her surgery beautifully.

Not much else is going on, I got a ton of cooking done yesterday, I made shrimp and sausage grilled on skewers, Spaghetti with Shrimp in Spicy Marinara, and Sausage stuffed mushrooms. Most of it is frozen and packaged for dinners at work, some I'll have for lunch when I'm home, and so on and so forth.

Well guys, it really looks like I'm back. I don't have much news. Tomorrow ... my blog will be on later in the day, because I have to get up so early to be at my training session. It'll be up around 5pm. Tomorrow my mum goes in for her knee surgery. She told me to go visit her on Friday instead of tomorrow evening, she thinks she'll be pretty out of it. I'm going to visit her tomorrow anyway. *grins* I'm a good daughter.

Guess what? My internet is FIXED!!! That's right peeps, finally. Apparently a 'node' had gone bad (perhaps from the electrical storm), and needed to be repaired or replaced. This has been done, so I'm BACK!!!

Apparently Tom Cruise is getting sued by a bunch of extras from his movie Valkyrie, due to the fact that they were injured. Go SUE HAPPY PEOPLE!!!

I finished up Imitation in Death, and I'm starting on Divided in Death. The summary is as follows:
The year is 2059. It is a future in which technology and humanity collide, and a new computer virus has become the latest form of terrorism. Reva Ewing, a former member of the Secret Service, a security specialist for Roarke Enterprises, is a prime suspect in a double homicide. She had every reason to want to kill her husband, the renowned artist Blair Bissel. Not only was he having an affair, he was having it with her best friend. But Lieutenant Eve Dallas, who's on the case, believes Reva is innocent. Eve's instincts tell her that the murder scene looks too perfectly staged, the apparent answers too obvious. And when she digs for more, she discovers that at nearly the exact time, a kitchen knife was jammed into the victim's ribs, the passcode to his art studio was changed -- and all of the data on on his computer deliberately corrupted. To roarke, it's the computer attack that poses the real threat. Signs show that this is the nightmare his company has secretly been preparing for. Since I'm having such a fretful time with my internet access at home, I'm instating a moratorium on Songs of the Day. I don't have access to You Tube here at work, so I can't look up the links and such. So sorry about that.

Not much is going on. I'm actually reading a bit more than usual ... as there's no chitty chatting available to me online for a bit. So the next book I pick up will likely only take me a few days to get through.

My mum is heading off on Thursday for knee surgery, she's having her knee replaced. Pretty awesome that one can just buzz in and get a new knee. (Although, I'm sure she'll be saying differently when she's high on percosets)

J.D. Robb, Imitation in Death. I'm nearly done with this one, serial killer imitating other great serial killers, ie. Jack the Ripper, The Boston Strangler, Ted Bundy. Pretty interesting. Oh and Lt. Dallas gets a flashback of her biological mother, who was a licensed companion (ie. lady of the night). Her bio-mom was a bit of a nasty piece of work.

A little garden on a bleak hillside

Lies far into the spring. The sun's pale glow

Is scarcely able to melt patches wide

About the single rose bush. All denied

Of nature's tender ministries. But no, --

For wonder-working faith has made it blow

With flowers many hued and starry-eyed.

Here sleeps the sun long, idle summer hours;

Here butterflies and bees fare far to rove

Amid the crumpled leaves of poppy flowers;

Here four o'clocks, to the passionate night above

Yo yo ... folksies, again with the internet connection this morning! I actually had everything formatted and ready to post and POOFLETTE!!! Connection Failed. (I really think that my internet connection is just not happy with 80's music though.)

Anyway ... there will be yet another phone call to the cable company. *sighs*

Good news though, now that the weekend it over, it's likely I'll have connection for the rest of the week, at least until Friday morning.

I love silver linings.
