It is pretty obvious that the writers of this episode were strongly influenced by the Buffyverse with similar scenes from both Buffy and Angel showing up in this episode. Mick's relishing of all things human reminded me of the Angel episode "I Will Remember You." It was great to see Joseph finally baring his fangs and jumping into the action and the pivotal rooftop love scene between Mick and Beth literally brought me to tears, especially with Bif Naked's "Lucky" playing in the background. Here's hoping that CBS wakes up and smells the cult hit they have on their hands. Kudos to the director for the nice scene when Beth finds Maureen's body. A little foreshadowing here as the scene shows Beth bending over her body shot from the neck down. Next to the body is a hand mirror that shows her bloody head, almost as if it had been decapitated.
