That 70s show

I am now adicted to That 70s show.  I'm not sure why.  I never really cared for it much during it's run, but now that it's over, I feel like I missed out.
Luckily it's on like 6 time a day (Thank you FX, UPN and MyTV stations!)  And Netflix for the DVD's.

Season Finales

Season finales bother me. I understand that ever since "Who shot JR" they all end in cliffhangers. I have accepted that and know that no season finale will end happily. However, I still get angry when the show ends in a horrible way that takes the characters in ridiculous arcs that will anger the fans.

Example 1: 7th Heaven
All the kids were having twins. Probable? Probably not. It was ridiculous. And now, with it being picked up by CW I don't know how they will be able to dig themselves out of this hole. And the Simon/Sandy exchange at the end, it was more cryptic and brought up more questions than it answered. Very frustrating. I was bored by the end.

Example 2: Gilmore Girls
Why is Luke so stupid? And why would Lorelei sleep with Christopher? And why would Rory fall apart when Logan left? Didn't she used to be strong?

Example 3: The O.C.
Marissa died! What the hell? How will the show recover from that? It changes the whole direction of the show.

Example 4: Scrubs
A random pregnancy scare, or a pregnancy. Terrible cliched way to end a season. And it's just like 7th Heaven. It's stupid if all the couples are all pregnant at the same time. And so out of the blue. Plus it was set up that all the couples were happy until the last few seconds. Crap!

Example of good finales. Ones that leave you hanging but are satisfying because they weren't ridiculous or took the characters in strange directions.

Example 1: Grey's Aantomy
Yes there were many unanswered questions at the end. Who will Meredith choose? Will Burke regain control in his hand? Will Callie and George be okay? Will Izzie really leave the program? But these were satisfying questions. Somewhat expected. Not too out there. And as for Denny dying, you would have to agree that in order for the show to move on he would have to die. His marriage to Izzie would have complicated things.

Example 2: What about Brian
Am I angry that Dave slept with that woman? Yes. But it needed to happen. And Adam realizing that something might be up between Marjorie and Brian, again, very necessary. As was Marjorie sabotaging Brian's relationship. It had to happen so he would be mad at her just as she was realizing her feelings. A great finale.

Example 3: Related
OK, so it was months ago, but this was a satisfying season finale (not series finale but it wasn't picked up). All the sisters ended in good places. Ginny realized she wanted to be with Bob, but he had already left on tour, and she doesn't cheat on him which was perfect. And the parallels with the mom were perfect. Rose ended up with Joel, Marjee ended her toxic relationship and Anne and Danny started to work things out. It was a great end. I wish it was picked up for another year.

Example 4: Will and Grace
I'll be the first to admit that the last few seasons were kind of sucky but this was the perfect ending to this series. A look into the future to see that they always had their ups and downs but that they ultimately end in happy relationships and end up friends int he end, all four of them. Perfect. A little cliche, but that's ok.

Finales get me angry especially if they're bad

No one reads my blog anyway.  Do I get points for posting things?

I could just post nonsense and it wouldn't matter.

What about Brian

I am loving the new show What About Brian (and not just becasue of Barry Watson). I'll admit that I first watched it for him, but now I'll stick with it for the great cast and the stories. A great new show from J.J. Abrams, but what else would you expect fromt he guy that brought us shows like Felicity, one of my all-time favorites.

So I'm not really sure how I feel about this show in its first outing. My first thought was "Evil! They Replaced Studio Sixty!" so I wasn't going to watch it. But I watched it despite this fact. then I couldn't keep all the charaters straight. Thre were just too may. I couldn't remember which Donnelly brother as which, and I couldn't keep track of all the other mob-like guys in the neighborhood (many who end up dead at the end so it doesn't really matter). And then the whole narration kind of bugged me. What does Joey "Ice Cream" have to do with all this? Why is he in jail? And is it going to be like this every week? Becasue that could get really annoting.
So the jury is still out. But I think I may be sucked into watching this just because I want to see if it gets better.

Plus I love that NBC is touting this a a "can't miss" and "the best of the year." Isn't that the same thing they said about "Studio 60"?

The Cho brothers really could ahve screwed themselves by helping Mary and David get to the fast forward but it paid off for them in the end. That was such a great act of kindness on a show that usually features back-biting and nastiness. And i have to say that i'm so glad Peter is gone. He was so awful, and it was obvious weeks ago that his and Sarah' fledgling relationship was not going to survive. And I really wanted Tyler and James (the model/drug addicts) to beat them, and it looked liek they weren't going to until Peter and Sarah came across the fast forward instead of the detour. I really like the six remaining teams. I don't really ahve a clear favorite yet, but we'll see what happens next week when the beauty queens get in an accident and see how they take it.

I had read somethign abouta pickle stink encroaching on Stars Hollow before I saw this episode and thought, "How stupid!"
But in all truth, it was pretty hilarious! The town meeting, Michel on the ohoine trying to covertly tell a customer about the pickles tink. So funny!

My complaints about the episode however are many, I'm not sure if it's becasue of the new writing or wht but I'm not sure I'm liking the directiont he cahractersare going on.

Rory had never really been the jealous type before, she used to be strong, and now she's a big wimp. Not sure I like her like this. And Lorelai was bugging me, I mean I can see how Christopher is different from Luke, obviously, but I still think they need to work on what they could ahve had. We only saw Luke for two minutes at the town meeting. I miss more about the crazy town!

And when did Christopher and Sherry get married? I don't remember that happening? And part of me thinks that Yale wouldn't let Rory take her grandfather's class. Ok so I'm nitpicking... but it was a pretty good episode.

Another great episode. That girl was so adorable and such a good actress! Thinking she's a superhero and not wanting to leave the foster parents. So great!

An Meredith's attempts at dating? Those boys are sneaky, and her last yelling speech was amazing. "I want to be treated like a frickin' lady" So amazing. These writers are great and so iss this show. And all of the characters checking into the hotel towards the end, is there only one hotel in Seattle? I could see Addison and Mark going back there because they had just been there, but the others? Maybe just a little far fetched. Overall, a superb episode. Although George is making me angry because he should love Callie. Stupid George!

And Cristina with the chicken? Classic!

This was the worst episode in Seventh Heaven History. How could they allow this show to go on? It had been all tied up in the finale... the series finale in May. To bring it back is just torture. I was wondering how they were going to do this with all the kids being pregnant and they fixed it with Lucy's miscarriage... I'm sorry Lucy's "incident". It really bothered me that they just kept dancing around the issue of what happened to Lucy. Even when it became clear what happened, no one ever said the word miscarriage or that she "lost" the twins, just that she had an "incident" or they referred to "what happened to Lucy” It was so silly. Did the writers not think that the viewers could handle the word miscarriage? So stupid. This season is going to suck. There are too few characters and they're no longer interesting. Find something to fill this spot quick, Seventh Heaven is going down!
