Battlestar Galactica (2003) Pegasus Avg Score: 9.57 Total Ratings: 932 Total Reviews: 64 |
The episode starts with joy and hope and pride as we discover that another battlestar has survived. It keeps going with anxiety, worry and fear as we wonder how everyone and everything (being so different from one ship to another) will work together. And it ends with...with...how to describe this...guts torn appart, feeling of rebellion, anger, bitterness. Oh My, Michelle Forbes gets the worst out of me on that episode, she's just perfect on the part ! it's such a dark episode..;and what a cliffangher !

A perfect episode, this script is brilliant. Mal remains alone after an explosion occured and everyone (except him) has to leave the ship in survive pods. Alone and wounded, he remembers how he met his ship and its crew. A dramatic episode and yet very funny (Wash 's flashback oh my goodness ! hilarious!). Special mention to photography and of course J Whedon for writing such an amazing script.

The show had it all : a great cast, a great story line, beautiful special effects and a real self-made universe that made the all thing wonderful. It reminded me the first time I saw Farscape, a real renewal in sci-fi, I got addicted from the first episode. How could the network not see the jewel in its hands ? And with Joss Whedon at the helm, i'm sure that a little more patience (for the low rates) would have been rewarded. Big mistake this cancellation...Big big mistake...

Cagney & Lacey Happiness is a Warm Gun Avg Score: 9.99 Total Ratings: 13 Total Reviews: 1 Users who agree: 1 |
What a great episode to lead to the season finale ! The story has depth and subtility and a "tearbreaker" ending. The show starts lightly with the robbery of a collection gun to a charming (I think Arizona's) sheriff on visit to the Big Apple, that Cagney could possibly see as a romantic prospect. Things get worse when the stolen gun is used to kill people (including a cop) in several robberies. All the cops must wear their jackets on duty and of course cagney doesn't, but (fortunately) it's Mary beth who gets shot during the arrest.
This episode is interesting to many points of view : the "criminal of the day" is just a young boy whose friend had stolen a gun, and who uses it almost "by accident" (I mean "without thinking", just because the gun is here). On the other hand, the owner of the gun is a real weapons passionate who collects them and loves to practice shooting and is more interested by getting back his property than by the damages it caused.
And of course, the Christine/Mary beth plot... As the tension between the two gets bigger and bigger from MB's shooting to the end of the episode. Their relationship is in crisis as Christine 's getting down to the abyss and mary beth senses it but can't help it although she tries. The ending is fabulous and I just love the last image of the episode (the look on Cagney's face tells so much about things to come in the season finale). One of the best episodes of the show.

Cagney & Lacey Special Treatment Avg Score: 9.65 Total Ratings: 8 Total Reviews: 1 |
This episode is interesting only because of the confrontation between Mary beth and detective Dupnick (who we met on episode 95 early in this season). Those two just can't stand each other, each confrontation scene is exhilarating due to great dialogue lines and great interpretation of Dan Lauria and Tyne Daly. As Mary Beth insists on getting no special treatment because she's a cop, she gets incarcerated and things are getting worse when administrative problems force her to spent the night in jail...Of course Dupnick is really enjoying the situation as mary Beth does everything humanly possible to get on his nerves. Also funny, Harvey getting eager to spend the night with an "ex-con". Joan of Ark you said ? :)
