The Spectacular Spider-Man Avg Score: 8.97 Total Ratings: 552 Total Reviews: 32 Users who agree: 2 |
Spider-Man has had numerous television series over the years, probably the most out of any superhero, and this latest one just goes to show that our friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man will never get old.
For this show, they've made Spidey slightly younger than previous incarnations, and moved around the positions of some of the characters as a result (for example, Eddie Brock never worked for Dr. Connors), but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For a start, the younger Spidey appeals to a younger audience, and there's nothing wrong with that, but it also gives the series originality, something to separate it from previous versions.
As for the show itself, it's nothing short of amazing. As to be expected from Spider-Man, the one-liners are brilliant. The cheesy dialogue isn't cringe-worthy at all, it's actually funny. The plot is almost identical to previous versions, with slight alterations, and we all know how good the previous versions were. Even the theme song is good, it's nice and catchy.
Spectacular Spider-Man has succeeded in entertaining Spidey fans of all ages, kids, adults, teens like myself, will all be watching the Spectacular Spider-Man.

Ben 10: Alien Force Avg Score: 8.88 Total Ratings: 576 Total Reviews: 53 Users who agree: 4 |
When I started watching Alien Force I was nervous that it would completely destroy a good show like Ben 10. I was wrong. In fact, I was completely wrong. It hasn't ruined Ben 10, it's improved it.
Ben 10 was a good show to watch, but it had a lot of flaws. Ben was in immature brat who liked going Fourarms to smash stuff. Now he's a mature kid who actually knows how to use the Omnitrix.
Gwen used to just jump around shouting out spells and screaming that annoying scream of hers, now she's a completely bada** girl with a mastery of magic that puts the boys to shame.
Kevin's change was excellent, his character is really likeable now, despite the fact that his new power is worse than his old one.
The plot is strong in this show. Ben 10 just about had a weak plot throughout each season, but in this show the main plot binds the show together, and a good archplot makes a good show.
Alien Force, despite its terrible name and theme tune, has managed to make a good show like Ben 10 great.
Keep it up Alien force, keep it up.

Avatar: The Last Airbender Imprisoned Avg Score: 8.88 Total Ratings: 544 Total Reviews: 60 |
The kids have arived in an Earth Kingdom town, only to find out it's being controlled by the Fire Nation, who are using its coal to fuel their ships (which is weird, because they can shoot fire from their hands). There they meet Haru, an earthbender who fears using his powers because his dad was arrested for earthbending.
Katara bonds with Haru over the course of the episode, and inspires him to not be afraid of using his abilities. Then Haru gets arrested. Big help Katara was then.
Katara, determined to save Haru, devises a scheme to get her arrested for earthbending, with predictably hilarious results. The plan works however, and Katara ends up on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean, miles from any earth to bend. Katara tries to inspire all of the other earthbenders into fighting back and escaping, she gives a motivational and awe-inspiring speech which gave me goosebumps, and no one listens to her, their spirits already crushed by the malicious warden.
Katara then manages to get the earthbenders some coal to bend, and after another motivational speech, they finally pluck up their courage and fight back, kicking Fire Nation ass in an exciting battle scene.
So, an exciting episode, less joking around than normal, which was nice for a change, but still the perfect amount of humour for it to be a funny and serious episode.

Avatar: The Last Airbender The King of Omashu Avg Score: 9.06 Total Ratings: 541 Total Reviews: 80 |
As confirmed last episode, Aang loves goofing off, and this time, he's found an excellent way to do just that in the great Earth Kingdom City of Omashu. But what starts out as a joyride down the mail delivery system slide turns into yet another adventure.
The kids are brought before the King after accidentally destroying a Cabbage Merchant's cart (this merchant later becomes a running gag throughout this season and the next one). The extremely eccentric King quickly figures out that Aang is the Avatar, and then imprisons Sokka and Katara in crystals, and forces Aang into doing three challenges in order to set them free. As Katara put it, 'his crown is a little crooked'.
So Aang does the challenges, the final one being an exciting battle between Aang and the earthbending King. Then in true Rumpelstiltskin fashion Aang must guess the King's name. Aang soon figures out the King is really his old friend Bumi, what a twist! King Bumi then gives Aang some useful advice and sends the kids on their way.
All in all, the episode isn't too serious, thanks to Bumi's hilarious personality, it's another fun installment of the series.

Avatar: The Last Airbender The Warriors of Kyoshi Avg Score: 9.21 Total Ratings: 571 Total Reviews: 86 |
Aang, in one of his usual goofing off sessions, takes the siblings to Kyoshi Island to ride some giant fish, however things go awry when they are captured by a group of warriors. The warriors turn out to all be women, much to the surprise of Sokka, who can't seem to comprehend the notion of women doing anything but sewing. After the islanders find out Aang is the Avatar, they are given the celebrity treatment, and Aang is chased by dozens of fangirls all over the island with a funny montage.
Sokka tries to prove he's better than the so-called 'Kyoshi Warriors' by challenging their leader, Suki. He fails miserably and is forced to accept that girls are just as good as boys. (there's always one girl power episode, isn't there?)
Sokka decides to swallow his pride and apologise to Suki, who then agrees to teach him the Kyoshi island martial arts form.
Aang is very reluctant to leave the island, loving the attention, however Katara insists that they need to leave before something bad happens. And because this is a girlpower episode, Katara turns out to be right, and something bad does happen, you guessed it, Zuko's back, again. That guy doesn't know when to give up, does he?
And so, Zuko attacks the village, almost destroying it, so Aang learns the hard way that being the Avatar is serious business. After defeating Zuko for the second and by no means last time, the Gaang flee the island, but not before Suki gives Sokka a peck on the cheek to hint at the romance that will soon develop between them.
All in all, it's a bit silly, but it's a light-hearted, entertaining episode.
