We have pets/A Golden Girl passes away

Hi there everyone, I hope that all is well. Well last weekend was my wifes birthday and and for her birthday, I gave her some money to go and buy a couple of rabbits. My wife loves them and she had been wanting them for so long. I promised that I would give them for hr birthday and boy, was she excited. She had her eye on a rabbit and a guinnie pig at a pet store during the week but they wouldn't hold them for more than two hours so she was hoping that they would be there when we went there last Sunday. They were and there were screams of delight.

She got a little white rabbit that she called "BUGS" and a brown Guinnie Pig that she called "Chocolate". They are very cute and Definatly have very unique personalities.

On a sad note, I would like to say goodbye to Estelle Getty who passed away at 5:35 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22 in her home in Los Angeles surrounded by her family and caregivers. I had known that she had been gravely ill for a while now but this still comes as quite a shock. I remember the whole family sitting down of a night and watching this every week. I couldn't stop laughing. It has since become available on DVD and own all of what has been released. I even actually thought "Stop or my mum will shoot " was a bit of a hoot. Mainly because I kept laughing at Estelle.

I pass on my best wishes to all of her family and friends. R.I.P

Re-visiting Heath Ledger/New York Post Column

Hi people. I hope that everyone is well. I thought that for this blog that I would revisit a blog that I wrote a while ago that many of you would not have seen. I think that it is an appropriate time with "The Dark Knight" being released this week. I think that I might do a revisit everyonce in a while to see if peoples opinions change.

I am writing this to personally show my disgust at Andrea Peyser's column in the New York Post about Heath Ledger.

To call him reckless, greedy and selfish is just plain ignorant and wrong and to go much further and say that he "chose" to self destruct with medications with little or no regaurd for his daughter is heading towards defermation terretory.

The man is dead and his grieving family hav'nt even had the funeral yet and she comes out wiith these bogas comments to bring even more hurt to people. I'm not sure if she personaly knew him or not but either way, the comments don't serve any purpose other than to get her name in the headlines around the world.

The medical examiner ruled that it was an accidental overdose and not suicide.

I myself have suffered servere depression in the past and know that sometimes, you need that extra tablet to calm your nerves or fall asleep. What he did was an unfortunate mistake made by someone who was in a state of anxiousness and mudled thoughts just wanting to get some sleep and feel better. Maybe in a clearer mind, he would have thought twice about taking that concoction of tablets but hindsight is a wonderful thing.

I feel sorry for people like Andrea who have these misguided views cause I can promise you that he loved his daughter and family immensly and I feel he just wanted to feel better so he could be a role model for his daughter.

I would like to pass on my best wishes to his family and friends and I hope that through hi work, he will live on forever.

Rest in peace Heath.

TV.com Pop-up advertising

Hi there everyone. I would first like to thanks everyone who commented on my last blog. I appreciate everyones input and have taken everyones opinions on board.

Now, this is only a short blog but it is about something that has been really annoying me lately. TV.com advertising. More specifily, when I click on a link on the site, 50% of the time, I get an advertisment for a show or product before going to where I wanted to go in the first place. Yes, we are given the option of skipping it but that is not the point. This site does very well promoting new shows without resorting to "Pop-up tactics". It is something that has really been bothering me lately.

Does this happen to other people and if so, what are peoples thoughts on it.

Television Violence

Hi there everyone, I hope that all is well. I am writing this blog today to voice my opinion on television violence and the blame groups and people are aimng at the networks. More specifically, they are blaming them for what there children watch, then go ou and copy it. Now not eveyone will agree with me but I am writing this to get my thoughts out there and to here other peoples thoughts.

Now I grew up in the 80's and there was a lot of violence on television and yes, I wished I could be Mr.T or Astroboy. But, my parents made the point of explaining to me that what I saw on television was not real and that I was not to copy what I saw. Yes, I played dress up and played cops and robbers but I was always supervised and if they thought things were getting out of hand, they pulled me back in line. If I did go to far, my parents never blamed televion but rather me for not listening or themselves for not keeping an eye on me. Now they had 4 children to look after so it was hard but it was always a priority to make sre we new what was right and wrong. And the big thing was that if something was on that they didn't approve of, they used a magical thing called the off button.

These days, it seems that television and movies are an easy target of blame where in fact, the blame should be placed elsewhere. I hear all the time about people complaining language, or subject matter that is innappropriate. I just don't get it. These days, warning ae shown before a lot of shows before it airs and all shows are given a rating. If you choose to let your children watch the show after all these warnings are put on, whose to blame. I am hear to tell you that it is not the networks fault.

Parents need to understand that television is not a babysitting tool and the they need to keep an eye what they are watching. They need to install the notion that what they see on the screen is not what should be replicated in real life. I am hearing stories of family groups throwing there arms in the air over gay story lines being intruduced in soap operas and teen dramas. They are saying that it is infecting todays youth and driving them to homosexuality or if drugs are shown, then drug use. What are they talkng about?

These are situations that are relevent in todays society and it would be nieve of networks to have dramas that where all happy familys and picnics cause we all know that it is not the case. If you think that a show that has adult themes might be unsuitable, don't let them watch it. But don't blame societys problems on tv cause I am hear to say that it is not there fault.

I do agree that televsion networks should have standards and that they should be followed. I do agree that there is some stuff that should not be shown on commercial networks but don't be nieve and think that just because there are standards that children can watch what they want cause I am hear to say that it is the parents that must take charge and decide on what they watch.

Don't forget that the off button is always there.

That is my opinion and I hope that I didn't offend anyone. Please feel free to leave comments and your thoughts on the suject matter.

Well, here we go again with another installment of out favourite car show and I have to say that this current series is going from strength to strength. But I am not here to review the series as a whole but rather, this episode so without further adue.......

After last weeks show that was all about cars(Shock), what we have here is an episode with another challenge, plus a car review thrown in for good measure. Now this might sound like I am being a bit critical of it but I am not. I was a really fun episode but I just can't help but think that they are straying away from what Top Gear is meant to be about, cars.

That said, boy, did I laugh most f the way through this. We started of with Jeremy reviewing the Bentley Brooklands. This was a classic review with lots of different inuendo and comedy while still being very informative.
We also had the TSIARPC segement. To be honest, I much prefer it when they only had one guest instead of two but that is just my opinion. I just didn't really find it all that entertaining.

Now we get to the crust of what this episode was all about. The boys are given 1000 pounds to buy an Alfa Romeo, a drivers car according to them and are given a series of challenges. The first of these challenges is a track day. I won't give away any spoilers but the cars the bought are slightly out of there depth here.
They then have to head of on a bit of a journey to an Alfa Romeo car day and have there cars fully inspected by people who know Alfa's inside and out. All I have to say about that journey is that it is laugh out-loud funny and a treat to watch.

Overall, this is another fantastic episode but with a couple of tweaks, it could of been a classic.

Overall 9/10.

Let me be the first to say that I gave this Episode and Excellent rating. Now before people start thinking that I have lost my marbles because last weekes episode was a bit weak, hear me out. I honestly didn't know what to expect and when I found out from Andy Wilmans blog that it was all about cars, I thought that it might be another dull episode but I was wrong.

What this episode reminded me of was what Top Gear did so well for the first few series. Review cars with a passion and humour without trying to alienate the viewer. And I think they pulled it of. Especially with WRX vs EVO comparison. I even found it amusing when they carried there running joke onto the Stigs timed laps. As for Hammond's race in the RS6 vs two skiers. I thought it was very light hearted and a joy to watch. Seeing Hammond get lost in town was very amusing as it was seeing him get stuck in traffic. It reminded me a lot of his Porsche Cayene challenge a few series back. It lived up to the saying "Ambitious but Rubbish". The SIARPC segment I thought was actually quite good and was actually entertained. I do still prefer the one guest but I am really an apple and Oranges type of guy. I even thought the stuntman segment was OK. Now this was in a huge part to James May's explanation of the stunt rather than the stunt actually happening but still, I wasn't bored.

If I only have one criticism, it was the news segment which just didn't seem as polished as it has in previous years. Oh and its good to have the Cool Wall back.

Overall I would give this a 8.9/10. I thought this episode paid excellent homage to what Top Gears of the old did well and I hope that there are more of them to come.

Well, this is the last episode in the series and what better way to go out than to see the guys arguing over what car they think is the best. And doesn't that always put a smile on your face.

We see Richard, Jeremy and James take 3 cars to Spain (were the Stig is holidaying) and put them to the test on a track. As you may well guess, what ensews is bickering, showing off and boasting. And I will tell you something, it is agonisingly funny.

Jame's also drives the brand new Jaguar XF and it is quite simply a stunning car. My wife had to get a drool bucket for me when I was watching it.

Richard on the other hand turns a G-Wiz into a fully functional radio-controlled car. Not only that but he then proceeds to give it some extra wasabi and race it against a Mustang. PLus we also get to see the Stigs skill and driving a radio-controlled car. Very entertaining.

Finally, we have the Top Gear awards which is always fun to watch and Mr Doctor Who, David Tennant is the star in a reasonably priced car. Overall this was a fitting end to a fantastic series and the wait begins for the next one to start.

Only on Top Gear can you expect to see the unexpected and this episode was no different. First we see Richard hooning around the track in a Porsche Boxter. YAWN. But then out of the blue comes the brand new BMW Z4M. It looked sensational and very aggresive and once Hammond tamed the wild beast, handled like a sports car should. I very informative review was wound up with Richard trying one of the hottest chillies in the world. Very funny.
Richard also looks at the Porsche Cayene Turbo. He races it against a Red Devil from the R.A.F. The race was a good one but the most enjoyment came when Jeremy and Richard were doing there conclusion. Jeremy sought of mention that something happened to the Porsche when the cameras were turned off. I won't spoil it for you but it is ammusing.
Jeremy introduces us to the new Mercedes S-Class. It is definatly a technology tour de force and had me salivating at the thought of owning one even though I had a little annoying voice telling me that it will never happen. I wish I could shut that voice up for a bit so it could let me dream. Jeremy also takes it upon himself to redesign the interior of an old S-Class Mercedes and turn it into Ann Hathoways Cottage. You will laugh when you see what argument Jeremy and the interior designer get into.
Finally, Ewan McGregor is the star in a reasonably priced car and was a very funny interview discussing many topics including motorbikes which Jeremy hates and even worse, Ewan owns a Toyota Prius. The horror.
The Stig also takes the Koenigsegg CCX around the track again, with the Top Gear wing and it proves astonishing.

I loved this episode as I do most but this was so jamb-packed that the hour flew.

Welcome back eberyone to a new series of Top Gear and by the looks of the teaser trailor that was shown, it is going to be a beauty. How I longed for this to return and the first episode didn't dissapoint.
We start of with Jeremy looking at a prototype, VW Golf GTI. Now this isn't a normal Golf. Oh no. It has a W12 engine that produces, wait for it, 640HP. I had read about this car in magazines but to see it moving was insane. The funniest part about the review of the car was Jeremy having a very hard time controlling the beast.
We also had the boys looking for the worlds best driving road so what else were they to do than to jump in three lightweight supercars and head to central Europe. What a brilliant film this was. Everybody was getting angry and we saw James May driving his Astin Martin Vantage N24 semi-naked. Very funny and a little bit disgusting at the same time. What really made the trip a pleasue to watch was to see them as they wound there cars through some of the best driving country in the world. From Switzerland to Italy, the scenery and cars were gorgeous.
Dame Helen Miron was the star in a reasonably priced car and was very engaging.
I would also like to mention the News segment which was laugh-out load funny. I won't spoil it for you but was very amusing.

About Me

Hey guys. I am a self confessed t.v nutter who is really eccletic when it comes to the types of shows that I watch. The only exception is soap operas which can make me violently ill. Also a big thumbs up to T.V .com for this site cause it gives me the outlet I need to be able vent my opinions instead of my wife listening to me all the time rambleing on about shows that she's never heard of. Cheers
