William Petersens life of crime to end (external) William Petersen is leaving CSI Crime Scene Investigation, a move that might have fans of his brainy crimebuster Gil Grissom screaming bloody murder. Petersen has agreed to return for occasional guest appearances and will remain a CSI executive producer, but his run as an original cast member will end this coming season, fellow executive producers Carol Mendelsohn and Naren Shankar said. A number of familiar characters will return in the episodes building up to Grissom's departure, among them his former colleague and flame Sara Sidle, played by Jorja Fox; the serial murderer known as the Miniature Killer; and sexy dominatrix Lady Heather. CSI Boss Outlines Season of Change (external)
Ausiello Files at EW.com Mendelsohn and fellow Executive Producer Naren Shankar offer an exclusive preview of what will go down when this sure-to-be-controversial season starts up. Jorja Fox will be back for multiple episodes, beginning with September 2008 season premiere. Lauren Lee Smith (The L Word) joins the cast in the third episode as new CSI Riley Adams.A nother new CSI, this time a male (Laurence Fishburne). Current cast members Liz Vassey (lab rat Wendy) and David Berman (coroner David) have been upped to full-fledged series regulars. Wallace Langhams Hodges, meanwhile, will become more prominent. The Miniature Killer will come back for an episode and cross paths with Grissom.
