I could not believe that this got renewed for a second season, i am british and i loathe it, it has virtually no redeeming qualities. Low production values, Bad...no scratch that, Horrific direction. ( they cant shoot action to save their lives) and janky writing. I cant blame the cg because i know if they actually gave the mill more than a tenner a shot they could produce great work. (which they are known for) but like anything else british it's just a low budget imposter next to the likes of battlestar and atlantis.

Dr who gets away with it because it's supposed to be camp and funny, and pulls it off with aplomb. This show however is just full of second rate hacks who have the on screen gravitas of a household lamp. itv's primeval is a much better step in the direction we should be headed.

i was surprised at just how well crafted this show was, it was lighthearted fun but with great character development, in one episode you totally got sucked into the premise. stylistically coming somewhere between jeunet's amelie and your typical baz Luhrmann fare, it is a very refreshing style for television, and the lovely anna friel echoed audrey tautou more than a couple of times! definitely looking forward to seeing where the writers will take it, there are a schmorgasboard of opportunities for sure.

might be a hard one to drop in on without having seen the backstory, but we'll have to wait and see. i just hope this great new show gets the support it deserves amongst the dross.

i thought i'd give the bionic woman another shot after my scathing review of the pilot, and hoped that i would be proved wrong and that the problems with the pilot would recede. Unfortunately, i was wrong. the accent still jars, the characters are still paper thin and the premise seems to be treated far too seriously for it's own good. also the arbitrary replacement of the deaf sister with the prom queen type is indicative of the shallowness of the whole scenario. i do like michelle ryan a lot, but i cant help but feels she has been dreadfully mis-cast, a fact highlighted (as many others have said) by katee sackhoff's infinitely more believable and suitable performance. i'll still give it a run for a few weeks, but when it's up against great,innovative new shows like chuck and pushing daisy's and journeyman i cant see it lasting long.

terrible accents,dodgy acting, terrible choreography, sub par CG. might even be worse than painkiller jane, and thats saying something. i wanted this to be good, i really did, but alas it is a hokey mess with skin deep characterization that feels tepid and unoriginal.

i was looking forward to seeing Michelle Ryan, especially after her turn in jekyll which was great. But her faux american accent is just awful, and masks her acting completely. the effects work is shoddy at best, and well below what we've come to expect of big shows like smallville and battlestar galactica to name but a couple. And seeing how her "bionic-ness" is the main draw, unless they up the game in the vfx department it will smack of straight to dvd.
