  • "V" over "FlashForward"?

I cannot understand how can anyone even compare these two shows....much less choose "V" over "FF". I am a sci-fi fan and was chomping on the bit after the first V promos hit the screens. This show had so much potential....but the execution was horrible, and it became the first sci-fi show in theMore history of television which I quit watching while it was still in progress. At the same time, "FF", which I started watching somewhat reluctantly, became , IMO, the best Sci-fi show on TV, comparable only to "Fringe". "FF" vs "Fringe" - yes, I would understand....but "FF" killed in favor of "V"? My god, I am so tired being a hostage of a bunch of ret@rds - and I am referring to both network execs and those viewers who obediently munch on anything TV networks throw their way. "V" is a piece of crap, and should have been cancelled, "FF" or not. Thanks a lot!!! Enjoy your cr@p...

  • New V v. Original V - Similarities Start with THE NAMES!

How many "original" V fans do we have out there? I can't believe no one has noticed that the names are the SAME! Yet, the differences are there, but do they symbolize anything? Let's discuss: ANNA - V leader, "mother" of the New York central mothership and Lisa "original" DIANNA - leader ofMore the New York mothership, but only a few stripes on that lovely red V uniform she had to wear. A major part of the plot point was always her underling trying to outwit and out manipulate her to the higher ups, so she couldn't get higher herself. LISA - Anna's daughter, beautiful blonde, torn allegiance, sympathetic to the humans original ELIZABETH - "Star Child" half lizard (father) half human born of a terrified youngwoman who was befriended and manipulated by one of Dianna's boys. Pretty blond who tried to bring peace between the races and used her supernatural powers to stop a V ship from exploding and for other peaceful purposes. She went through several "metamorphoses" and her lizardness sometimes hurt people (she spit poison at her "aunt" over a toy. The two were about the same age because of the strange fast aging in the storyline. By the time the series had finished she was almost the same age as her mother, and they even both fell for the same man! Can you say "awkward" and GROSS?! But, come to think of it, oddly fitting in soap operas, just not usually in sci-fi!) TYLER - Leader of the resistance Erica's son, typical rebellious teenager, involved with beautiful V Lisa and wanted to be used by Anna original TYLER - interestingly enough, the rough, tough mercenary, more of a KYLE in this reup (recent update)ed version. He brings the brawn and the weapons to the table. KYLE - The mercenary for hire who is approached by the Resistance to teach them mad fighting skills and aid the movement original KYLE - the son of a Resistance founder Mike Donovan, who is taken by Dianna and brainwashed into becoming sympathetic to the V's, even to the point of turning against his father. Tyler would compare to Kyle in this reup, as he is the Resistance fighter's son being manipulating into joining the V's and thinking they are cool and interesting. Time will tell if he actually turns AGAINST Erica. CHAD -the up-and-coming news anchor who is tired of being passed over, having his ideas taken and given to other anchors to run with. He is manipulated by Anna into covering stories from a positive V angle, though he cleverly fires back by covering stories from both sides, convincing Anna he is proV and actually influencing viewers FOR the V cause. Is further manipulated by the V with his medical condition that they claim only they can cure. CHRISTINE - the original news anchor who is seduced into spouting Anna's praises as her chosen media "liason" So, you viewers of the original, I know you are out there. Are you paying as much attention as me? What do you think? What other names are alike? or if not names - characteristics compare to original series. Is there anyone out there as intrigued by me at the similarities and differences in these two series? I started with NAMES, but we can digress. I'll start the digression too! I think it's interesting that the new series turned the roles on their head by reversing a lot of the gender in roles. For example, Anna is the "leader of her people", but in the original the "supreme commander" and a lot of the higher ups were male. Dianna was a struggling female willing to use her sexuality and machinations to move up the ladder. Also, the manipulated news anchor was a woman, where here we have Chad. The Resistance leader with a son is here Erica, a single divorcee, whereas in the original, it was Mike Donovan, a male divorcee.

  • Chad

I don't understand why the V are trying so hard to win over Chad for their propaganda. They could have easily installed their own pro-V journalist beforehand.

with the first season behind us.. has the V remake stood up to the hype??? hide show

in Statistical terms.. NO.. the ratings fell after the hiatus.. which was to be expected. V edged out FF to win a second season So where did our lovely characters left off? Val- Poor Valerie, it was pretty clear that her only role was to give birth because after that i could not see where her character would be going but I liked her none the less. Tyler_ the last couple of episodes we have not seen him as often. however he still manages to be oh soo annoying.. He left just as stupid as when we first met him. Hobbes- We don't know where he stands. is he 5C or not.. its obvious that he felt some type of way towards them or he would have gave them up a long time ago.

Ryan- I give him props for attempting to choke Anna.. but after they were doing that bliss stuff, did he really turn?

Joshua- He is so dry .. but i felt bad when he died.. but now that Marcus brought him back to life.. what will they do to him?

Lisa- She changed dramatically throughout the show, first she just followed her job.. but a little too well n she really started falling for Tyler.. then she ended up on her mother's radar, not a great place to be.. well a couple of broken legs later.. she betrayed her mother and took joy in doing so. Lisa's ego will spike after Joshua's "My queen" comment.. the apple don't fall far from the tree. but lets see if Lisa is smart enough..

Chad- WTF.. are you her lap dog or not.. pick already....

Fr. Jack- You really do need a muzzle.. its like you want to scream " I am a 5C member and we meet in secret and everything!!" Erica- Awesome, the only one that shows guts on this show.. great poker face when you met Anna gotta hand it to you girl.

Anna- I love You.. my favorite character .. she is the definition of Manipulative, sly and just plain sneaky.. the calm demeanor has worked wonders to hide your "evilness".. but if we thought Anna was a psychopath before.. wait until next season.. when she feels emotions like rage.. omg she is going to go off the wall.. maybe a start to her own demise? everybody around her is gunning for her neck, even Marcus her No. 2 looks like he has something under his sleeve for Anna. When she had the breakdown.. i was like Awww.. dito.. i felt bad for her.. but with all that said and done.. where does she go from here considering she jumped the gun for the "next phase." Overall great show exceptional cast and a good story line. the writers can take it to the next level.. but are they willing to is the question....

Breaking Point: With only Tyler, Chad and most of humanity still in the dark, Anna moves forward her devious plans while the resistance becomes personal for some old and new 5th Column members hide show

The episode tonight was a breaking point for many of the characters in the series. Lisa is no longer susceptible to Anna's bliss; Hobbs shows himself as possibly only in the game only for himself; Chad is an uncomfortable pawn in Anna's plans --yet he is not interested in changing his position anytime soon; The war has just become personal for Erica; Father Jack has to decide if he really wants to leave the battle, and Chris struggles almost to the breaking point with the unpleasant side of human emotions. The entire episode was intense, and the only certain thing going forward is that Anna is pressing forward with her devious plans, and she is willing to use or crush anyone who tries to get in her way. It feels like something big will be happening soon. With the V Fleet entering the solar system and Anna's soldier army about to hatch, something big happening appears to be inevitable.

A mixed revamp of the original, some improvements, some flaws. hide show

Whilst most wont have watched the original series and special with any great depth, so far we've only reached possibly the equivalent of 30 mins into the original mini series by episode 10 of this series and several of the 1st series plot elements have been completely abandoned.

For all the show's focus on the individual versus the mega-corp and hidden threats that few see; I was hoping to see some mentions to put in context the world's military reaction to the V's arrival. 29 ships arrive and the most we hear about military response is a downed fighter plane and a few other pilots killed in the disturbance of the ship's arrival?

Whilst the writers havent given the leads much to work with to give us something to actually care about their characters. The leads are doing their utmost with it, so the actors have my respect in working hard with poor material. What the writers have given us in my opinion is a new slant on things and changed enough of it; so that whilst I know what's coming overall; I'm interested in the mystery of what do the V's want this time? Its clearly not the same as before.

There's numerous options the writers could have gone for without blowing the idea of sleeper cells and hidden wars to make this more exciting on both an action front and a suspense front. With the background of each of the characters as they are there was huge potential there and its been left on the sidelines.

Awsome show! I hope it will continue the way it is going. Good shows tend to be cancelled... hide show

This show has really good writers, great characters in the show, and anything one can ask for as regards special effects - after all, it is sci-fi. What thrills me when I watch the show is to see how the Vs resemble psychopaths in the way they manipulate, lie and donīt hesitate to use violence against people, spinning their web and seem to be like anyone else on the surface. I love the characters, that tough, but caring priest (reminds one of Sheperd from Firefly), Anna, the V queen of slick horror, the freedomfighters and the gullible people everywhere. I love how the the writers play with the relationships, with love, trust, sacrifice and emotion or tha lack of it.

But what is killing me is that if the show continues to have quality as it does, it will probably be cancelled - just like Firefly or Sara Connor Chronicles. Maybe the writers should follow the stupid masses and stop using their wonderful fantasy and imagination - just make a plain and silly show - so that it wonīt get the axe.

The remake of a very popular shows back in the day, very entertaining and a good remake. hide show

The whole story line changes from the original, alotught this one is as original and for me personnaly better the old one still has some charm, the V's dont eat mice in this one and the seconde Queen is missing I think that they should bring her in, I hope it gets a second season because the original was too short and finished when the story had not been fully told. The whole Lisa, Tyler romance is very cute, and the fact that Lisa is feeling human emotions is funny sinbce she is the grand controler Anna's daughter. Another thing is valeries pregnacies, she tought she could live a normal human life with a baby on the way, i feel very sorry for her. The fact Erica is suffering because Tyler is leaving also makes me sad. I am also very happy with the addition of the priest (i orget his name). All in all a very good remake that takes V into a new generation with much more advance special effects.
