Show Summary

Take five contemporary girls just going into their teens. Give them super-powers over the four Elements - super-powers that enable them to protect the universe… And what do you get? W.I.T.C.H. Will, Irma, Taranee, Cornelia and Hay Lin, chosen to be "Guardians of the Veil," the border betweenMore Good and Evil since time immemorial. W.I.T.C.H. is an action series combining epic adventure and comedy, magic and realism, through the adventures of five young heroines designated to maintain the natural order of the universe… at the same time as they cope with the daily trials and tribulations of teenage life. The girls can now summon and use these Elements as they see fit. Will is the keeper of the Heart of Kandrakhar and the awesome catalyst who draws together all the group's energy and sets off their transformation… into Guardians. Together the five girls discover their mission is to protect the universe from evil and along the way "discover the magic and power of friendship". • W.i.t.c.h. FAQ

I’ve been thinking of creating a thread dedicated to answering Frequently Asked Questions about the W.I.T.C.H. TV show, such as “What does Will say when she transforms?”, or “Is it true that there won’t be a third season?”, etc. Currently the answers to those questions are scattered all over theMore forum, which makes them much harder to find, hence the idea of a FAQ. To help me put this together, please post your questions here, either questions that have never been answered before, or frequently asked questions which you think should be listed in the FAQ. Thanks. :) EDIT : I'm putting the list on the first page and pinning this thread for easier perusal. Production Q : Is it true that there won’t be a third season? A : In all likelihood the show will indeed end with the 52nd episode as there is very little to no interest both from the investors’ and the producer’s side in making a third season of W.I.T.C.H. Q : Why do the US and the European opening credits differ? A : Because the US picked a different theme song, they preferred to adapt the images to the music as opposed to the other way around, and so they cut their own version of the opening credits. Q : How come some of the scenes shown in the US opening credits were never seen in any episode of the series? A : Because these scenes are demo reels from the various animation studios that SIP Animation tested for the first season. Q : Why did the US edit out two scenes from the episode “It Begins”? A : The feeling was that the jokes fell flat and caused confusion. Those were the only scenes ever edited out for the US market. Q : Are there any plans for a W.I.T.C.H. movie? A : There currently are none. The feature film mentioned on movietome is total fabrication. Season 1 vs Season 2 Q : Why didn’t the US change the opening credits for the second season? A : Because they wanted consistency in case they aired both seasons simultaneously. Q : Why do the artwork and animation of Season Two differ slightly from Season One? A : Different director and animation studio. Q : Why is it that the second season is closer to the comics than the first season? A : The writing team felt that the new season required more in-depth exploration of the source material, and drew some inspiration from both sagas 1 & 2 of the comic-books. Q : What does Will say when she transforms? A : In the first season it’s just an unintelligible grunt. In the second season, Will audibly says “The Heart” in the first 11 episodes, after which she switches to “Quintessence” once she discovers that power. Names Q : Why was Laurent’s name changed to Clubber? A : Because it was deemed that Laurent was the kind of name a kid would get beaten over at school, and therefore the opposite of a typical bully name. From then on Laurent was therefore referred to by his nickname, Clubber, while his actual full name in the TV series is in fact “Laurent Clubberman”. Q : Is “Lin” Hay Lin’s last name? A : “Lin” is both Hay Lin’s surname and the last past of her first name. Since in Chinese culture it’s traditional to put the family name first, Hay Lin’s full name is therefore “Lin Hay Lin”. Q : Why was Thomas Vandom’s first name changed to Tony? A : Since there is only one Thomas Vandom existent in real life, Legal strongly advised that we change the character’s first name in the show so as to avoid any implication of personal slander and disparagement. Q : Where does the name “Trill” come from? A : It was inspired by comic-book issue #19 in which Hay Lin is haunted by a strange tune known as “Nerissa’s trill ”. Episodes Q : Is there a ‘lost episode’ of W.I.T.C.H.? A : There is an unaired 15-minute pilot episode which was never fully animated and was used back in 2003 to test viewers’ response to the show during a focus group. Q : Why does Nerissa wear a metal gauntlet? A : She wears it to hide the Mage Ring underneath so as to avoid blowing her cover as the Mage. Q : How did Nerissa get hairs from Queen Elyon’s head in “D is for Dangerous”? A : She got ahold of them when she was posing as Trill. Q : Why was the order of the transformation sequence changed halfway through the second season? A : Beginning with episode L, Will says "Quintessence" and gets moved to the end of the transformation order in order to show how Quintessence is the embodiment of the four other powers. Comic-book differences Q : How come Caleb doesn’t have in the show the green stripes he has on his cheeks in the comics? A : Children in test audiences for W.I.T.C.H. were disturbed by Caleb's face markings, which furthermore would have prevented Caleb from regularly interacting with human teens and adults in the TV series. Q : Why didn't the girls have some extra powers in the first season which they already had in the comics during the first saga? A : It’s a matter of showrunner’s discretion. For the first season, A. Nicholls & D. Vickers felt that the girls had too many powers in the comics, which is why they didn’t use most of the Guardians’ secondary abilities.

Even though it didn't follow the comics, it still was pretty good. hide show

W.I.T.C.H. is about 5 teenage girls who discover they are guardians of the veil. I haven't watched this show since February, but I still remember some parts. I liked the comics better, though, as I always do, but the show was still pretty good. You know manga that becomes anime? Well, I usually don't like the voices of that because they irritate me, which is why I stop watching the anime, because of the voices. This was different The voices were fine and the animation was good, even though it was in an anime-ish style. The characters were ok, and unlike the comics, it didn't last very long. I'm sad it doesn't come on anymore.

Not exactly the comic book, but it still rocks! hide show

As a fan of the comic book, I have to say that the series bears similarities with the comic book and its characters, but it also has a lot of differences. But, just like the adaptations of mangas to animes, like Dragonball Z and Sailor Moon, it's still a good adaptation. The characters are still the same, although some points of the story are different, and are seen in a different perspective. The animation, well, I can say that I'm fairly impressed with it, and the transformations are wicked cool! Oh, and I also like the exclusive characters that they created for the series like Miranda, who i think is a wicked villainess and a great character.

The cast who provides the voices of the characters is very good, especially Candi Milo, who voice Irma, because I always imagined Irma with that voice. The humour and the constant arguments between some of the characters is something that gives the series a reason for us to watch it. The only thing I'm against when it comes to this cartoon, is probably the fact that we never get to see the Oracle in season 1, and of course, the fact that Yan Lin's alive, while in the comic she died in the second issue of the comic book, although she's still alive in Kandrakar. Aside from that, it's a pretty good show, and I would not mind to watch a third season, if they do it, of course.

The characters are amazing and funny!! GO IRMA! [SHE'S MY FAV!] The second season in my opinion wasn't as good as the first but I still love it cause it's the W.I.T.C.H series!!!!! This was the worst show of all time! It did not follow the original W.I.T.C.H. comic series. Stupid Disney should have never been able to buy them out. hide show

This was the worst show of all time! It did not follow the original W.I.T.C.H. comic series. Stupid Disney should have never been able to buy them out. If you ever read the original series you would completely understand my deal with this show. The original comic series was actually witch like and had actual scary parts to it. It was really witch like, and in every issue they would give you a few spells to try out for yourself. It was the real deal. Not the fake crud that this show is. And they made Will was too girly in this series and missed everyone's personality by a mile.

I agree! We need the show back. I want to turn on the TV in the morning and be gob smacked at the site of a show that I thought I was never going to see again. I want to be able to scream,"It's Back!" and glare at the fuzzy colours till late that morning. hide show

For three years now I've been interested in this show. I've been collecting the novels and watching the episodes online whenever I have time. Unfortunately I don't have paid TV therefore watching them online is not always satisfying. I NEED the show on DVD, but once again this is impossible. Okay, maybe not impossible but the DVD's are terribly hard to find. My loss at not having them to watch on hand went so far as to having the erg to call Disney and tell them to release DVD's of this delightful show. I can't even order them from over seas for chips sake! Not fair! Love the show and it needs to come back. The characters never get old and, hey, let's face it, two seasons is not enough.
