What is it that you really want out of life? Life has no master plan. Six twentysomething friends who went to college together are now living in New York trying to find themselves, through out the good and bad times.
From Kevin Williamson, the creator of Scream and "Dawson's Creek" comes a new drama that defines the new age of your coming of age.
One would say it is better than Dawson's Creek, because they are the right age to know what they are talking about. Just add a little dash of technology age around 1999, and "Wasteland" gives you one of the enjoyable/ 'guilty pleasure' shows of the 1999-2000 season.
The series was also know as "wasteLAnd", which was suppose to feature them in L.A. (hence the title), but they ditched the idea of them in L.A., and made it New York City.

Just to let you know that I think some of the notes might be offensive to people, so read with caution! I added notes from what I heard and what I read everywhere around 1999-2001 about the show.
Wasteland went on hiatus, where it was suppose to return on December 1999, but was pulled off the schedule and cancelled.
Come 2001, It was picked up by ShowNext, a subdivision of Showtime Networks. It ran COMMERCIAL FREE, regularly on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. For a year durning it's run, ShowNext aired ALL episodes 5 times straight (see broadcast history below), before Shownext put it off their schedule.

Some interesting of Trivia about Wasteland (and "Mulholland Dr." the TV Pilot rejected by ABC and now a feature movie):
"Wasteland" took on the 9 PM time slot of Thursday Nights on ABC.
ABC Execs. choose "Wasteland" over David Lynch's "Mulholland Dr.", which was suppose to be his big return to TV, which he vows never to do again.
Justin Theroux one of the stars of "Mulholland Dr." was originally suppose to be in "Wasteland" decided to go with "Mulholland Dr.".
"Mulholland Dr." was supposed to go up against NBC's "Friends" (8 PM Time Slot), but ABC wanted a stupid twentysomething "Friends" clone show that America would "like." Other twentylike shows durning the 1999-2000 season was WB'S "D.C.", "Jack and Jill", NBC's "Cold Feet", and FOX's "Time of Your Life".
"The motto of ABC that year was that they were going to go 'young.' They gave us these wonderful shows like Wasteland with Rebecca Gayheart and things like that. That was what they wanted – they had a whole spate of shows that were "dramedies," as they were calling them, about kids with their heads up their asses." - Justin Theroux, one of the stars of "Mulholland Dr.".
