America's Scenic Rail Journeys is a four-tape miniseries covering America's most scenic railways; it is sold in a boxed set and was first released in late 1998. The series' total running time is 214 minutes. Viewers get a tantalizing taste of many different routes, each of which passes through breathtaking areas of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Many of the railways featured on the program were constructed for this very purpose, and many run north-south alone the western coast of North America. America's Scenic Rail Journeys highlights railways that pass by the Adirondack Mountains, the Rocky Mountains, the central plains of the United States, the Pacific coastline, and other immensely beautiful locations. This series is a favorite of train enthusiasts and model builders; it is also quite popular among travel lovers, American history buffs and people interested in nature conservancy. Scenic Rail Journeys is also an excellent introduction to long-distance train travel.
