Carl & Betsy Crum are the filmmaker husband and wife team who have created dozens of award-winning documentary films. Carl Crum was raised in Austin, Texas, and got his start working on low-budget films as a PA, later getting a BFA and MA in cinematography. Elisabeth Crum is from East Texas, and grew up with two photographer parents. Seeing them document the culture in 70's Texas inspired her to document the human experience. She got a BFA in cinematography and a minor in photography. The two started Brazos Film & Video in 2000, producing dozens of documentaries over the years since. In their latest documentary series One Square Mile, they explore society within small microcosms of a square mile range. They visit different miles across the country, from an urban mile in New York City with 66,880 people living and working in only a mile, to rural Texas where only 275 live in a small sawmill community.
