The Animatrix is a collection of 9 short films produced and commissioned by Matrix creators the Wachowski brothers, and is now available to view on TheWB.com. Each short was created by a different animator, ranked top in the world, and adds backstory and new chapters to the epic Sci-Fi trilogy. The shorts (or chapters) explain the origin of the machines, created by man to serve man. However, after many years of abuse, and eventual banishment, the machines rose against their makers in full-on man vs. machine war. Because the machines ran on solar energy, men darkened the sky, so machines imprisoned all of mankind for an alternative power source. They created the illusionary world of the matrix to mask their control. However there were cases of those inside the matrix breaking through. Like Neo from the trilogy, a high school boy realized the truth from the computer; An athlete pushes himself passed what should be physically possible and awakens (even if just for a second); a detective finds a pattern that takes him to the truth. The Animatrix also served as part of an arching larger story combining subplots from the films and the video game "Enter the Matrix" One such connection is the chapter titled "Final Flight of the Osiris" where a lost ship comes upon an army of machines drilling straight down towards the last human city of Zion (which is the premise for the final film). Keanu Reaves and Carrie-Anne Moss lend their voices.moreless

Strong Bad Email is a popular internet animated flash video that is part of the Homestar Runner series. The basic premise is that Strong Bad (Matt Chapman), a lucha libra mask wearing character, answers emails sent in by a viewer, usually in a very demeaning, egotistic way. The series is popular because of its surrealist humor, usually referring to internet pop culture and video games. It began in 2001 and has run continuously since then, creating more than two hundred episodes. Its most popular joke came about from an email entitled "dragon," in which Strong Bad draws a picture of a dragon named "TROGDOR, THE BURNiNATOR, " and plays a humorous theme song for it. A considerable amount of merchandise has since been created, featuring Strong Bad or Trogdor, including video games of their own. Anyone that enjoys internet memes or bizarre humor will find something to like about Strong Bad Email.moreless

The Atomic County is an animated cartoon based of the fictional comic strip by the O.C's Seth Cohen (played by Adam Brody). On the O.C., Seth is into all things "nerdy": indie rock, video games, skateboarding, and comics, none of which are frequently listed as the hobbies of typical Orange County youth. The Atomic County is Seth's own comic, where he makes characters based off him and his friends. He's the Ironist, whose weapons are his sharp wit and intelligent rhetoric, and the love of his life, Summer Roberts (Rachel Bilson) inspires Lil' Miss Vixen, who sports razor-sharp credit cards. His friend Ryan Atwood (Ben Mackenzie) is transformed into Kid Chino, who has fists of metallic fury, and girl next door Marissa Cooper (Mischa Barton) is Cosmolass, who wields her magic flask. There are also characters based on the other O.C. characters, like Trey, Luke, Anna, Caleb, Oliver, Johnny, Sandy, and Taylor. The Atomic County follows their adventures as they fight all the villians of Newport, like a demonic water polo player and Villian Blinding Abs with their super powers.moreless

    Character Guide:
Cuddles: This cute little yellow bunny will make you laugh and cry as he runs along playfully, making mischief or being eaten by a crocodile.

Giggles: This shy and sweet little chipmunk will make you go "aww" with her "giggly" attitude.

Handy: This helpful carpenter beaver will give you a hand, or rather, what's left of it.Lumpy: The blue dim-witted moose, whose attempts at doing anything become a disaster warning.

Toothy: The buck-toothed beaver who tends to bite off more than he can chew.

Nutty: The screwy squirrel with a sweet tooth with sweets sticking all over himself. Sugary situations turn sour when he gets involved.

Petunia: The skunk who is as sweet as she smells (also wears an air freshener necklace)! Sniffles: The nosy, nerdy anteater who always sticks his nose into trouble.

Flaky: The prickly porcupine usually gets her pines in a prickle, I mean, pickle while fearing the many perils that surround her!

The Mole: This mole with a mole may be blind, but he can still see what's what's going on around him. Not really, but still manages to survive most of the time.

Disco Bear: He's not dead...yet! This break-dancing bear likes to get his groove on and the disco ball off-of him.

Russell: Avast matey's! Pirate otter spotted off the port bow! Searching for pirate booty rather than having it handed it to him.

Mime: The reindeer with actions that speak louder than words and won't shut up!

Lifty and Shifty: These thievious little raccoon brothers will swipe anything they can get their grubby little hands on. They just need to work on getting away with it.

Cro-Marmot: Literally, the first "inanimate character." This ice-encaved, prehistoric cave marmot will do "absolutely nothing" to make you laugh.

Flippy: War-torn and relieved of his military duties, this gentle bear veteran will reminisce old battles and "share" them with you personally.

Pop: The man of the house who does what he can to keep his son from danger, only to bring it to him.

Cub: Loveable, huggable, cutesy "cuddable" baby bear Cub loves to play and explore the world around him. Under the (sort of) watchful eye of Pop, he stays out of trouble and into danger. Teen Girl Squad is a spin off animated comedic web series by the hilarious master minds of Homestar Runner. There's too much to say about the stand out character of Strong Bad's, crudely drawn, purposely lackluster cartoon done on notebook paper. First off, it's hilarious, absurd and completely random humor that we love. Second, it's a web comedy cult favorite. And lastly, third, the plot- it focuses on four girls: Cheerleader, So and So, What's Her Face, and The Ugly One all who try their best to fit in at high school. Getting prom dates, shopping for clothes, enjoying things like "Decemberween" and Valentine's day or just being girls where ever they happen to be that day, Teen Girl Squad is a laugh out loud take on teen drama but, much like any good comedy, situations arise, birds attack, buses collide, people get "arrowed". So watch it, trust us- you'll agree it's "SO GOOD!".moreless

The LXD, short for the Legion of Extraordinary Dancers, is a web series from director John M. Chu about a group of dancers who also serve as a justice league of superheroes, even without traditional supernatural powers. Instead, they possess extraordinary powers of dance, and a mysterious outfit known as the LXD recruits them. There is also the hint of evil in the form of a shadow woven throughout the episodes, suggesting another entity that uses supernatural powers of dance in a bad way. As the story unfolds, it is told not just through dialogue but through extraordinary dance sequences that leave no question about why these dancer's abilities can turn them into superheroes. The actors on the show are relatively unknown except for their experience in the dance and choreography communities, with the notable exception of Harry Shum Jr., who stars as choir member Mike Chang on the hit Fox show Glee. The core group of the show's main characters has done performances opening for the Glee tour, on So You Think You Can Dance, and at The Oscars.moreless
