Sparhusen is an amusing faux-documentary created by Illeana Douglas about the Swedish experimental pop group Sparhusen: Beirget Kattson, Olf Nystrom, and Gert Forseberg. Shot through the granulated lens and aged film of Mangus Svenka's epic, if unfinished, 'Triumph of Sparhusen” the mockumentary details the band's relationships, both with former Manager, Bjorn Epstein (one of only 3 Swedish Jews), and with famed Swedish record producer Wurst Fierren, (Keanu Reeves). Footage includes the original recording sessions of Sparhusen's landmark album, 'Apples & Fish,' and its equally influential and undeniably catchy single, 'Apples & Fish.' The process is creatively draining for all, especially working with Fierren, who influences the album with extensive use of whale sounds, and the famous 'I give you the fish' role-playing exercises. The documentary concluded just three weeks before the fateful plane crash that stole 'Sweden's almost great bandâ' from us all. As Wurst says so perfectly, 'I think we are done, ya?'moreless

Acrassicauda is a thrash metal band who is well-known for becoming the first heavy metal band to emerge from Iraq. The band formed and played under the regime of Saddam Hussein and were subject to death threats after their success began to threaten Islamic politicians who believed they were worshipping Satan. Because of their unique story, VBS.TV created a web documentary series for the band entitled "Heavy Metal in Baghdad." The documentary took place over three years in Baghdad and exposed the plight of trying to promote cultural expression during war while also showing the courage Acrassicauda had to live out their own dreams. The series shows clips of the band's opinions/footage on the refugee situation in Syria as well, a cause which is very important to the four members. Largely due to its look at the toll of war on young citizens, "Heavy Metal in Baghdad" was named one of top documentaries featured at the 2007 Toronto International Film Festival.moreless

Welcome friends and music lovers. Here lies the website of From the Basement - A sort of music show / labour of love produced by a small group of dedicated individuals. We shoot it all on HD video and the sound is produced by me. The whole emphasis of the show is about being artist friendly and making our bands as comfortable as possible so that they can give great performances without the usual agony of TV promo which everyone has to do but no one seems to enjoy. TV world is a pretty hostile environment for your average musician to have to walk into and bare his soul on cue.. It also doesn't hurt that a lot of the people we've filmed are friends or people we've worked with before so they trust us and know that we understand what recording music is about as well as making good TV. All in all I think it all adds up to something unique and special which I don't feel happening anywhere else in either the music side of mainstream TV or online.moreless
