    Channel 101: NY (ended 2007)
Sexual Intercourse: American Style was a web series created by Mitch Magee and aired on Channel 101: NY. An early hit for the web-based channel, there are seven episodes, each a few minutes long, presented like comedy sketches, plus a "season finale" special. Despite the evocative name, there is no nudity, only some crude language that some viewers may find objectionable. The series focuses on two couples: Clark (Will Hines), Beth (Eliza Skinner), Fran (Julie Klausner), and Tom (Matthieu Cornillon), although none really stand out from the others. There are also several one-time characters. The overall theme is of dark comedy, often starting with something seemingly straightforward and innocent, and then completely changing direction. For example, one episode features the four main characters covered in balloons, eager to pop them one by one to show their nakedness underneath, only to begin mourning the meaninglessness of life. Fans of Kids in the Hall and Human Giant should find this series to their liking. The series was produced by Upright Citizens Brigade.moreless

James Gunn's PG Porn is exactly what it sounds like: Porn without all of that pesky sex getting in the way! Everybody knows plot, characters, and mise-en-scène are what really draw people to porn, right? Luckily, James and his brothers Brian and Sean kept this in mind for their mega-popular web series. Fans of Gunn's big screen output (The Specials, Slither, The Dawn of the Dead) will be amped to see some familiar faces pop up throughout the series. Firefly's Nathan Fillion, actual porn star Sasha Grey, The Office's Craig Robinson, and more all make appearances in James Gunn's PG Porn.moreless

Old Jew Telling Jokes is a series of video podcasts of, well, exactly what the name implies: A bunch of 60 year-old and plus jews telling hilarious jokes in the classic Jewish storytelling tradition. Jokes are an important part of Jewish culture, and jokes here cover all the categories of American Jewish life including Jewish mothers, marriage, death, and general neurosis. Many of the jokes told are from the teller's youth, a very different time, but they remain relevant and funny today.moreless

The Hustler is a dramatic comedy web series created in January 2009 on Crackle. The short web episodes are co-written, co-directed and starred in by Mark Feuerstein. Feuerstein is best known for his role on Royal Pains as Dr. Hank Lawson. Sam Friedlander also co-writes and directs the series. In the web show, The Hustler (Mark Feuerstein) tirelessly fights to right what he perceives were unforgivable wrongs he endured during his childhood. The acts against the Hustler that he is working to right are often very trivial and his anger over them seems like a huge overreaction. An example of the Hustlers targets is his high school football coach. Other characters that appear in the series regularly are Bernie (Al Brown), Danny (Chris Fernandez Lizardi), Anna (Lindsey Smith-Sands), Carl (Ian Markell) and Meat (Zach Aimen). These characters either help the Hustler seek his revenge or are targets of his relentless rage. Will the Hustler satisfy his craving for revenge?moreless

In Web Therapy, Lisa Kudrow plays Fiona Wallice, a comically self-centered therapist with some less than traditional ideas about her profession, conducting her 3-minute psychotherapy sessions from the convenience and safety of an iChat window. In many cases, Fiona is obviously more interested in dealing with her own issues in these short web-cam therapy sessions, often derailing progress with her patients in favor of discussing her own financial woes or disintegrating marriage. Each episode is highly improvised, and punctuated with high profile guest stars: Alan Cumming guest stars as a Richard Branson-inspired business tycoon, Selma Blair takes a turn as a surrogate mother who's in it for all the wrong reasons, and fellow "Friends" alum Courtney Cox reunites with Kudrow to play a psychic who ends up counseling the counselor. Other guest stars for this show include Molly Shannon, Jane Lynch, Mike McDonald, Bob Balaban, and Julia Louis-Dreyfus. Originally produced as a series of webisodes, Web Therapy is now a series on Showtime.moreless

Seth MacFarlane's Cavalcade of Cartoon Comedy is a series of web based shorts from the creator of Family Guy. The episodes are in the form of the cutaway gags that are used frequently in Family Guy and have a similar tone of lampooning figure in popular culture. The shorts all share biting satire and the use of absurd elements to show pop culture in a different light. 23 episodes were released online, with an additional 27 shorts available on the DVD. The premiere episode 'Super Mario Rescues the Princess' highlights satirical way that the shorts apply real life behavior to pop culture staples. After defeating the dragon, Mario asks Princess for a kiss for rescuing her, and the Princess refuses. The two then get into a long, humorous argument about the difficulty Mario had go through to save the Princess and why she won't kiss him. Eventually, Mario gives up and leaves, letting the dragon he previously defeated kill the Princess. The shorts run about one to two minutes and include an intro animated segment from the sponsor.moreless
