Americana is an documentary-style web series from Vice Magazine's online television network VBS.TV that focuses on the stories of American lives that go unheard in mainstream media. Taking a break from their usual focus on urban culture, Americana seeks out modern day folk takes across the country. These special interest pieces run from the banal to extraordinary. to the From the legendary recording town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama where Bob Dylan, Otis Redding and the Rolling Stones recorded their music, to the story of Amy Ritchie, a hunter, pianist and nationally recognized taxidermist, Americana sheds light on the quirkier, zanier side of rural America. In efforts to allow the stories to speak for themselves, each episode is presented with minimal narration, allowing the person being profiled the chance to let their story unfold in their own natural, unique way. By crafting the show in this manner, the human spirit of America's way of life is able to come forth unabashed, unadulterated and uncensored.moreless
