The annual conference began focusing on technology and design, but through the years has expanded to science, culture, and more general topics. Curated by Chris Anderson, TED is a non-profit organization which puts on the conference as well as giving grants to people to encourage world-changing action. The Hill

The Hill is a soap opera on UCLA's resTV. Written, directed, produced, and acted out by UCLA students, the soap opera has a refreshingly honest and youthful feel. The Hill revolves around a group of students living in UCLA's coed dormitory, Dykstra Hall. The characters on The Hill make up a very diverse set, from the painfully awkward to the excessively social to the painfully peppy. The slightly exaggerated portrayals of the homesick freshmen draw empathy from the viewers, while the bubbly RAs provide a generous source of comic relief. The Hill’s short episodes are the perfect length for a study break and the adventures, misadventures, hook ups, and break-ups of the small group of students, with their insecurities, hang ups, and quirks, makes for a perfect, free guilty pleasure. Bay State is Boston University's student soap opera. Filled with teen angst and plenty of drama this soap opera, set and filmed in Boston, is Boston University's leading television series. The series originally aired in 1991 and Bay State holds the record for being the longest-running, continuously broadcast student soap opera in the United States. Focusing on the risqu'' lives of students at the fictional Beacon Hill College, with the series tagline being "Sex, Drugs, and Murder", Bay State has covered just about every subject in its long run. Current storylines focus on Aaron (David James Blundell), playing the nice guy, Alexis (Emily Africk), a student struggling with depression and trying to stay clean, Brandon (Timothy Shivers), the bad boy addicted to gambling. Hundreds of former Boston University students have previously appeared on the show. The show has proven to be a favorite among main stream soap actors and many, including Kristian Alfonso, Alison Sweeney, Austin Peck, Robert Kelker-Kelly and Lisa Rinna from Days of Our Lives have made guest appearances on the show. On the Ground with Nicholas D. Kristof is the video series where New York Times columnist Nicholas D. Kristof travels the world to show human rights issues that are happening right now. Kristof is an op-ed columnist, journalist, and author, who has been writing an op-ed column for The New York Times since November 2001, often writing about human rights issues in Asia and Africa. His column has brought to light abuse like human trafficking and the Darfur conflict, showing the issues in the widely read newspaper. He has reported on six continents while traveling to every state and 150 countries.
