From La Blogotheque and renowned French independent filmmaker Vincent Moon comes Take Away Shows. The sessions consist of an artist or band playing in the streets, in a bar, a park, or even in a flat or in an elevator every week. Of course, what makes the beauty of it is all the little incidents, hesitations, and crazy stuff happening unexpectedly. These live, unusually staged performances differ from the artifice of traditional music videos in favor of single-take, organic and primarily acoustic sessions, keeping the raw sound of the surroundings. The goal is to try and capture instants, film the music just like it happens, without preparation, without tricks. Spontaneity is the keyword.moreless

The Vice Guide to Travel is a web series from VBS, the online television arm of Vice Magazine, which sends journalists and filmmakers to some of the weirdest and most dangerous places in the world like Liberia, Chernobyl, North Korea and Pakistan. The correspondents don't make anything easy or safe; they consistently try to find the most elusive characters to get the real story of these exotic locales. The correspondents are looking for adventure in these pieces, but they are also looking to inform. There is a definite journalistic angle to each episode, as they make sure to give background on the place to help the viewer better understand how the area came to be as it is. Vice says they go to these far-flung locales "so that you never, ever have to go for yourself as long as you live. We took cameras so that we could prove that we went." This attitude of finding places no one would want to go and getting as deep as possible into it pervades each episode. The Vice Guide to Travel DVD was also released with new locales and appearances by Spike Jonze, David Cross and Johnny Knoxville.moreless

Taking a break from their usual focus on urban culture, Americana seeks out modern day folk takes across the country. These special interest pieces run from the banal to extraordinary. to the From the legendary recording town of Muscle Shoals, Alabama where Bob Dylan, Otis Redding and the Rolling Stones recorded their music, to the story of Amy Ritchie, a hunter, pianist and nationally recognized taxidermist, Americana sheds light on the quirkier, zanier side of rural America. In efforts to allow the stories to speak for themselves, each episode is presented with minimal narration, allowing the person being profiled the chance to let their story unfold in their own natural, unique way. By crafting the show in this manner, the human spirit of America's way of life is able to come forth unabashed, unadulterated and uncensored.moreless
