Childrens Hospital

Show Summary

Childrens Hospital is a comedy series that began as a web show on and now airs on Adult Swim. This is the web show season that led to the Adult Swim hit. The show centers around the lives of a group of hospital workers in Childrens Hospital, a hospital for kids named after a Dr. Childrens. The series was created by Rob Corddry, who also stars as Dr. Blake Downs, a doctor who believes that laughter heals better than medicine and often wears clown makeup around the hospital. His staff includes Dr. Cat Black (Lake Bell), Dr. Glenn Ritchie (Ken Marino), Dr. Owen Maestro (Rob Huebel), The Chief (Megan Mullally), who walks around on two crutches, Dr. Lola Spratt (Erin Hayes), and Dr. Valerie Flame (Malin Akerman). Henry Winkler also stars as Sy Mittleman. Recurring guest stars include Michael Cera and Ed Helms. The doctors of Childrens Hospital often seem to care more about making out with each other than helping the sick children under their care, and most of the episodes focus on their zany antics than the diseases they are trying to cure. Childrens Hospital is a parody of popular medical dramas, such as ER, Grey's Anatomy, and Private Practice. The show originally aired as a web original on, but was picked up by Adult Swim in 2009.

  • Lose the Clown

I am a volunteer Rodeo Clown with the Hosuton Rodeo and I do a lot of rodeo events involving kids and the Rodeo supports MANY children's programs, such as real Children's Hospitals, etc. As a traditionally-dressed Rodeo clown, with suspenders, western shirt, cutoff jeans, bandannas, and a clown face. Most kids love the outfit but their are kids of ALL ages that fear clowns, fear the clown face, unfortunately because they had bad experiences as a kid with a circus clown, and that translates to a fear. I know, I see it every time I dress and go out to support the rodeo and the events it supports. Clowns at 5-year parties chasing kids, clowns on horror shows and unfortunately the negative image your show portrays of clowns does NOT help anyone and is not funny because it WILL create a real fear. Lose the clown face, find another character to portray. What you and others think is funny - isn't. You just need to look in the eyes of a child who had a bad expereince with a clown. Myself, my clown associates have to be very aware of those around us, so that we do not contribute to anyone's fear when they should be enjoying the experience. Please consider this and the negative impact your character will have, no matter how intended - Adult Swim or not,.moreless
