Episode Summary

This started out as just a test shoot for me to try out a concept and visualization idea for an upcoming project I'm working on. The idea was to try and tell a story by stringing together scenes from a place where time is suspended, and we are seeing a story play out by being given only glimpses of moments. A piano player friend of mine from back home was in town visiting, and since we had the free day we grabbed our friend Alex (along with his D800 and Profoto Strobe kit) and headed to Griffith Park in Los Angeles to shoot some ideas. We shot all the backgrounds ( +/- 3 stops for HDR) for what we thought looked interesting places then headed back to the house to follow up. After picking the frames we liked best, we went out to the driveway to shoot our subject in various strange poses (usually resting atop a bar stool or coffee table) mimicking the motion of falling. We made sure the sun and the strobe were angled form a similar direction as the sun was when we shot our plates. My friend learned how to play a rendition of "Below My Feet" by Mumford and Sons and we later mic'd up my piano to record the soundtrack for this test idea project. After two days of After Effects work and a little bit of sound design, the test result came out pretty nicely, so I wanted to share that here. Camera: Nikon D800 (24mm lens) + Profoto light kit Software: After Effects + Photoshop + FCPX + Logic Pro + Magic Bullet + Davinci Resolve Photographer // Girl + Piano Cover // Lydia Martin Everything else // Enjoy.moreless
