This is the submitted version of the Pepsi MAX ad I created for the 2010 CrashtheSuperbowl competition. I shot it over the course of 2 days, for about 3 hours each day, while in southern Uganda working on an unrelated (but totally cool) other film project. I shot it using my Canon T2i on a Glidecam. I used both the 18-55 kit lens and the 50mm/1.4 prime Canon lens. The audio was all captured on location using a Zoom H4N. I sampled all the actual kids' breaths across bottles to create the tune. Basically I just tuned one to a perfect C and captured that, transformed it into 6 octaves of C's (all using different breath waveforms so it sounds like its multiple people blowing) and plugged it into a sampler that I could control with a MIDI keyboard in Reason 4. Apps used were Final Cut Pro, After Effects (for the max highlighting on the bottle) Garageband, Reason 4, And the Magic Bullet Looks/Mojo plugins. Of note: what you see here was color corrected, but only very slightly. It was mainly just to match the sequences which were shot out of order and on different days. All of this color is naturally there in the landscape. This was shot just outside an orphanage in the south part of Uganda. Enjoy.moreless
