Dangerous Migration is a natural history documentary show that spends one year following the annual migration that the Northern Right Whale undertakes every year. The Northern Right Whale is one of the most critically endangered species of whale and it is thought that less than 300 are alive today. The migration takes these giant whales from the calving grounds off the coast of Florida and Georgia northwards to their main feeding grounds in the northern Atlantic between Cape Cod and the Bay of Fundy. The main food of the Northern Right Whale is the Copepod, a type of oceanic zooplankton that the whales follow as it migrates around the ocean. Commercial whaling is no longer the threat to these beautiful giants as it was in the 19th century, but commercial fishing is still one of the main dangers to the half of the surviving population that makes the trip to the Bay of Fundy every year.
