Design by the Book

Show Summary

Design By the Book is a collaborative web series produced by the New York Public Library and popular design blog Design*Sponge. 5 New York artists are invited to the Library to look through the stacks and find inspiration for a series of new creative projects. Lorena Barrezueta, a jewelry and dinnerware designer, uses her inspiration to create a collection of cups. Rebecca Kutys, a letterpress artist, uses old maps to create new print pieces. Mike Perry, Illustrator and Typography expert, makes a full length zine. John Pomp, a glassblower, inspired by the architecture of the library itself, creates an art deco lamp. Julia Rothman, an illustrator, makes elaborate patterns out of old navy paraphanalia. This four part series not only introduces the viewer to four talented and diverse artists, it re-introduces the world to the New York Public Library and all it has to offer. Make sure to stop by next time you're in NYC.
