Far Out

Show Summary

Far Out, produced by VBS.TV, tells the story of Heimo Korth, a rugged Wisconsin man living in the far north, as he and his wife struggle to survive one of the harshest environments in the world. Heimo lives in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge in the Alaskan Interior north of the Arctic Circle where, due to federal regulations banning residents, Heimo and his wife are the only people left still living. Their nearest neighbor is 100 hundred miles away. The VBS reporters chat with the quirky Heimo about his history and why he chose to live in such a rough environment. As the series continues through its five episodes, Heimo shows VBS reporters exactly how to live in the wilderness, from trapping to slaughtering animals to fending off the always dangerous bears. When the first night falls, Heimo hands the reporters a loaded shotgun, laughing, because in the arctic north it is kill or be killed.
