Eric Boehlert discusses his latest book, Lapdogs: How the Press Rolled Over for BushHe argues that the press is apprehensive about being critical of the Bush administration because they do not want to be accused of demonstrating a liberal bias. He also argues that conservatives have gained greatly from the media's weak coverage of the Republican administration. Mr. Boehlert looks at the way the media covered the investigation into Karl Rove's role in the Valerie Plame outing, Whitewater, the Terry Schiavo right to die case, and Al Gore's 2000 presidential bid. He also examines the Bush and Clinton administrations' manipulation of the press and suggests that liberals need to learn how to better articulate their message to the press.
