PBS’ emGod in Americaem explores the tumultuous 400-year history of the intersection of religion and public life in America, from the first European settlements to the 2008 presidential election, revealing the deep roots of American religious identity in the universal quest for liberty. The fight to define religious liberty has fueled struggles between America's secular and religious cultures on issues from evolution to school prayer. American individualism and the country's experiment in religious liberty are the engine that has made America the most religiously diverse nation on earth. Dig Deeper: God in America and Religious Freedom helps make the connection between the history that emGod in Americaem outlines so well, and the active struggles going on at this moment that will ultimately become a part of that history. Each segment of Dig Deeper combines clips from current discussions on the Forum Network website which focus on the main themes of emGod in Americaem and questions surrounding those themes that are still in the process of being answered. Below, we outline the questions being posed in each Dig Deeper segment, and invite you to be an active participant in the answering of these questions—and ultimately in shaping the debate about religion that will continue to make America so unique. Dig deeper into the lectures on our website, then join the discussion—and be a part of history!moreless
