Held by the Taliban is a short video series from the New York Times that takes you into the experience of NYT reporter David Rohde's 7-month, 10-day captivity at the hands of the Pakistani Taliban. Rohde traveled to Kabul, Afghanistan, while researching a book on the region, and on Nov. 10, 2008, he was taken hostage by the Taliban. With him, two Afghan colleagues were also taken. In this five, short episode series, Rohde gives a first-hand account of the kidnapping itself, walks through the scope and conditions of his captivity and discusses the ideology behind the Jihadist movement. Through his own words, Rohde takes you through the worst moments of his captivity and explains how he gleaned knowledge through the study of his captors. Discover what led to his escape and the conditions, knowledge and feelings that brought it to life. In this short web series, Rohde gives an inside look at life in the clutches of the Taliban that is only possible through living such an experience.
