Show Summary

Historic Campaign Ads is a channel that archives political campaign ads from the 1950s to the 1980s. Viewers will relive ad campaigns from presidents, governors, and political figureheads who criticize their decisions. In Nixon's Life, viewers are treated to a 30 minute self-portrait of president Richard Nixon which helped secure his presidency in the late 1960s. Film stars join Ronald Reagan's 1966 effort to become the next governor of California when John Wayne takes part in an ad to present his position on whether Reagan is "just an actor." In a 1984 ad, Walter Mondale criticizes the way Ronald Reagan handles the arms race as president. Other prominent political figures featured in the ads include Dick Cheney, Gerald Ford, George McGovern, George H.W. Bush, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Senator Barry Goldwater.
