Episode Summary

While in Portland, Oregon to rehearse for the upcoming New Mystery Moods Tour with YACHT and the Straight Gaze, Bobby Birdman was asked to perform on Portland Community Media's underground televised variety sensation, The You'd Be Surprised Hour, hosted by "local favorite" Steve Schroeder of States Rights Records. For the occasion, Bobby Birdman assembled a band of his favorite Portland players to jam under the hot lights of the cable-access studio: Adam Forkner of White Rainbow (seen in the video exhibiting his unparalleled dance style), E*Rock of Audio Dregs/Fryk Beat, and his fellow YACHT and the Straight Gaze bandmates Jona Bechtolt, Claire L. Evans, Jeff Brodsky and D. Reuben Snyder. By sheer coincidence, they chose to play the song "You'd Be Surprised," from Bobby Birdman's new album, New Moods. The result was such visual dynamite that the video is now being widely released for those people who no longer own televisions. The You'd Be Surprised Hour has long been a hit with audiences in the Pacific Northwest and beyond, and has featured performances from locally-grown, internationally recognized acts like grammy-nominated Nu Shooz, The Wipers, Heatmiser, Dead Moon and The Kingsmen. Bobby Birdman joins YACHT and the Straight Gaze on the New Mystery Moods tour of North America this month. New Moods is out now on Fryk Beat records and will change your world. bobbybirdman.commoreless
