November 20, 1910 – one of the most significant days in the history of Mexico. A day when common men and women rebelled against the 31-year dictator President Porfirio Díaz. Although the economy flourished during Díaz’ rule, only 2% of the population owned land and there were more than 3 million “campesinos” or peasants. Díaz gave enormous privileges to foreigners, especially the U.S. who owned many of Mexico’s natural resources. The people wanted their land back.moreless
