When Frank's doorman Arne is beaten up by people that where actually after him, Frank realizes his past caught up with him. But his hunt for the offenders is being complicated because he has to babysit the 12-year old Jonas while Sigrid attends a 2-days seminar. Meanwhile chief of police Laila Hovland starts tying together the loose ends and the National Holiday is being celebrated in Lillehammer.

Frank makes a liquor delivery to a,man that is free on bail. He gives him the idea to launder dirty money by investing it in art. After that Frank asks to Torgier to buy art 'of the kind that you can sell for more than it cost'. Meanwhile Geir 'Elvis' Tordt continues his private investigation in New York.

Somewhat against his will Frank accompanies the pregnant Sigrid on her first prenatal examination. In the hospital his short fuse explodes because the midwife turns out to be a guy. On top of that his property deal gets jeopardized when the son of his partner converts to the islam. Police officer Geir is suspended after his too enthusiastic approach of a potential terroristic threat. His compassionate boss comforts him with a tour to Memphis. There he makes a remarkable discovery...

When he goes to collect a debt for his nightclub, Frank receives information about an upcoming project for luxery houses in a nearby vacation town. He gets interested and offers to "moderate" with an environmental official who doesn't want to give his approval for the project. In a routine check it turns out Frank doesn't own a legal drivers licence for Norway. Rather than taking a 2 month course to get a licence, he decides to take a short cut to it....

Frank starts finding his way in Lillehammer. He even falls in love with his Norwegian teacher Sigrid Haugli. In the meantime he starts looking for personnel for his nightclub together with his partner Torgeir. They are offered large amounts of smuggled liquor, but they end up in a fight with a motorgang because of it. Franks neighbour, the local chief of police starts asking questions about the somewhat weird behaviour of her new neighbour.

New York gangster Frank 'The Fixer' Tagliano testifies against his boss in court. Afterwards he enters the witness protection program and gets relocated in Norway with a new identity and a new name: Giovanni Henriksen. Giovanni picks Lillehammer as his new residence because he got charmed by the town - 'Lilyhammer' according to him - when he saw the images of the 1994 Winter Olympics that were held there. Of course reality is a lot less wonderfull. Giovanni feels lost in Lillehammer and soon he falls back in his old habits...
