Episode Summary

This film relates to the Stalin-era gulags and involves half a dozen prisoners who attempt a breakout. It's hard to believe that a film fraught with so much danger--they have to go thousands of miles to go from the Siberian gulag, ultimately to exit the Himalayas into India--and it's boring. UNBELIEVABLY BORING. Why? I don't know. The actors are okay, not particularly wonderful. But it's not their fault. It's the plot. You see the same old terrain. Sometimes it's hot, and sometimes it's cold; it just simply does not catch your mind or your heart, which is a shame, because this is a true story. And there ought to have been more rapport between screen and audience. But I gotta tell the truth, you'll be bored!' For more of my reviews, visit Mayor at the Movies.
