Mindhunter

Show Summary

Mindhunter is a MSNBC documentary series that looks behind the dark minds of serial killers. Criminal profiler John Douglas draws on his 25 years of experience with the FBI's Behavioral Science unit when interviewing serial killers like Joseph Kondro, jailed for killing two young girls in the Washington state area. Kondro recounts how he lured the daughter of a neighboring couple into his car by using a safe-word that they trusted him enough to know. Douglas also talks to Donald Harvey, a former hospital orderly who killed his patients by a number of methods, including cyanide poisoning and smothering them with a plastic bag. When asked by Douglas if he has any remorse for his crimes, Harvey claims he does not, seeing the acts as mercy killings and his only regret is getting caught. At any one time there are an estimated 30-50 serial killers in the United States. Mindhunter peers into their disturbed minds to find what drives them to murder to find more effective ways to identify and capture them.
