CBS This Morning” reports Florida's citrus industry has been hit by a disease, causing fruit to turn bitter and fall from the trees before it turns ripe. The New York Times says it’s spread by the Asian citrus psyllid insect and was first seen in 2005, but this year’s losses are the worst. RT says in the last six years, it’s cost Florida’s economy $4.5 billion and 8,000 jobs. Western Farm Press says researchers are trying to create a new form of the bug which won’t spread the disease.moreless
