Nature of the Holy Land

Nature of the Holy Land is a three-part documentary and travel series focusing on Jerusalem and its surroundings; many of which are sacred to Christianity, Judaism, and Islam. The first episode focuses on the Jordan River, where Jesus Christ was baptized by St. John the Baptist; the Jordan features prominently in Christian and Jewish scripture, and is a popular pilgrimage site for Christians. This episode showcases the plants and animals that live in the river and along its banks while illustrating the importance of the Jordan as relates to local agriculture. The second episode of Nature of the Holy Land focuses on the deserts surrounding Jerusalem; it was in these deserts that St. John the Baptist lived, and where Jesus Christ fasted for forty days and forty nights. This part of the documentary also discusses the impacts human beings have on this desert environment and on the animals who live there. The third and final episode of Nature of the Holy Land addresses the Mediterranean coast and the trading routes along it that have been vital to Asia Minor for thousands of years.
